Rod Marsh and Shane Warne.

Two greats of Australian cricket gone within hours of each other.

RIP.

Years ago I worked with an Englishman at my job.
One day we were having a conversation about our two countries.
I ask him to explain to me about the game of Cricket and how it's played.
He just looked at me and said, "I could talk about playing Cricket to you for three days, and you'd still be none the wiser". ...

52 Years old dead of a heart attack. There have been alot of heart attacks of athletes and former athletes of late. Astonishing.

A lot of stress on hearts from training, in many cases.
However, heart attacks continue to be the leading cause of death in Australia and likely elsewhere.

Warnie was a magician with the cricket ball, and lived life to the full.
Vale Warnie the magician.

Rod Marsh, acrobat behind the stumps...also scored many runs with the bat.
Vale Rod Marsh, loved and respected by all.

Cricket...kinda like baseball in principal...field, bat, ball, ...hit ball, run, score points.

Thats true.
Its not a sport you can pick up in a day. Its extremely complicated and takes years.

Shane warne was the best spin bowler ever to have lived. No one ever spun it like him. He was mesmerising and a brilliant cricket brain with it.

Just for the exercise here is one of his very best.

Really. You are clueless but you are American so we'll cut some slack.

Nah...I'm a "backward square leg, cover, mid on, mid off, point, third man, short fine leg, long off, long on" kinda guy.

A

"Give me a home among the gum trees
With lots of plum trees
A sheep or two, a k-kangaroo
A clothesline out the back
Verandah out the front
And an old rocking chair.

You can see me in the kitchen
Cooking up a roast
Or Vegemite on toast
Just you and me, a cup of tea
And later on, we'll settle down
And go out on the porch
And watch the possums play

There's a Safeways up the corner
And a Woolies down the street
And a brand new place they've opened up
Where they regulate the heat
But I'd trade them all tomorrow
For a little bush retreat
Where the kookaburras call

Some people like their houses
With fences all around
Others live in mansions
And some beneath the ground
But me I like the bush you know
With rabbits running round
And a pumpkin vine out the back"

kinda guy!

Shocked that Rod Marsh was still with us given his lifestyle. I think he did 40 cans of lager on a flight to the UK when he was in his prime. Legend.
Shane was a great bowler who also shaggd Liz Hurley. I reckon Murali might have topped him since. Certainly with the ball and not with Hollywood talent
