Perhaps prompting a "discussion" about the evolution of "families" over the past 60 years.
In the 50's, a large percentage of households included H + W + K's + one or two people from the grandparents generation. As Social Security gradually increased to be almost enough to live on, the grandparents were less likely to be a part of the household. Typical families had more than two kids.
Then it became one kid. Then marriage fell out of favor and kids became optional.
Now the fastest growing household type is a single woman with a dog (I just made that up).
