What would you neo-socialists do about the alleged disconnect between hourly workers and the people who employ them? Why not force small businesses to share profits with employees? I think Stalin tried that one. Why not have fools in congress dictate marketing strategy to the private sector? How did Fannie Mae work out? Politicians couldn't even use a congressional post office without creating stupid schemes to steal stamps and going to jail for it. Go to school shaman instead of riding a bike from job to job and complaining about the people who employ you. Better still go to work for the federal government. I'm sure they appreciate skills you demonstrate.

Wan, wan, wan, Stalin, wan, wan, wan, socialism, wan, wan, wan,...

Same old shit, different day.

There are lots of ways to improve our country. The Germans have strong unions and a strong manufacturing base. How? Because the government there invests in people. Education, technology, believing in the average workers abilities....there are a lot of ways to invest in America and make it better. But this crap about socialism is bullshit.

I am sick of it. It's capitalistic greed that destroyed our economy with a $516 TRILLION DOLLAR derivatives Ponzi scheme.

Philips, shaman, chris, I don't have any idea what y'all do for a living but judging by your articulate use of the language you are probably Americans who make a good living in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. Where have you been for the last fifty years? Russian socialism collapsed. China is a restrictive capitalistic regime. The VietCong who fought us almost to their extinction have become capitalists and you want America to go the other way because you have a jerk in the white house who ain't got a clue? Come out of the political closet lefties, that's all we ask. Tell us where your agenda would lead America. Tell us your vision for the greatest Country in the world. Stop playing games and tell us where you stand.

American companies are doing great because they shipped jobs overseas.

But the American worker is screwed.

Is this a great country or what?
"If only.

"There may be $2 trillion sitting on the balance sheets of American corporations globally, but firms show no signs of wanting to spend it in order to hire workers at home, however much Washington might hope they will.

"Meanwhile, the average American is feeling poorer by the week. 'If one looks at unemployment and housing, it's clear that for all practical purposes, we have yet to fully get out of recession,' says Harvard economist Ken Rogoff, summing up what everyone who doesn't live inside the Beltway Bubble is thinking.

"While the White House's official 2011 growth estimate, locked in before Japan and the oil shock, is still 3.1%, most economic seers are betting on 2.6%.

"That's not nearly enough to propel us out of an unemployment crisis that threatens to create a lost generation of workers who can't find good jobs and may never find them.

"Welcome to the 2% economy.

Will banks target the unbanked next?

"During the recession, the number of people categorized as unbanked — without a checking or savings account — or underbanked — without access to credit — increased.

"In a new study, consulting firm KPMG suggests that banks can make money from this group, not by bringing them back into the financial mainstream, but by offering them 'alternative' products like prepaid debit cards and money orders.

"Banks aren’t the only ones seeing a potential market in the unbanked. Some big-box retailers have begun offering bank-like services, letting customers cash a check or pay a utility bill.

"Around nine million households in the U.S. are unbanked and 21 million are underbanked, according to the FDIC.

"Most of these people rely on a patchwork of products and services to handle everything from cashing a paycheck to paying rent. Check-cashing storefronts, payday and title lenders, and pawnshops function as de facto banks.

"It’s challenging as well as expensive to navigate through 21st-century life without access to a checking account or credit, as a SmartMoney writer documented in a two-week experiment to live a cash-only life.

if you dont like your Country Chris....no one is forcing you to stay here.....

No, if you don't like your country, change it.

We are the change we are waiting for.

On the day you demonstrate the ability to think for yourself, instead of regurgitating bullshit from others, I might deem you worthy of changing a tire. Until then, you're just one of the Obamanation.... and you're gonna get your 'change' shoved where the sun don't shine.

Those strong German unions also have representatives sitting on the Board of Directors of their firm.
German Industrial Policy (a third rail here) sets policy that keeps high-value jobs at home.
Screaming "Socialism" is a way for lazy, ill-informed slaves to avoid cleaning their own capital-centric house.

Yes, it will be awful when bankers pull up to houses and force the unbanked to use their services at gunpoint.

Dumbass.

I see the same crap over and over again whenever macro economic and taxations issues are discussed .

Some of us want to think about this issue seriously to find a solution to the problem.

And some of you throw silly SLOGANs at the issue.

CLASS WARRIORS from both sides of this debate need to wake up and think about what their goofy ideological notions are actually doing to this nation.

There are two things that both need to be done

1. We need stop paying for EMPIRE that doesn't serve this nation

2. We need to impose a truly progressive and just tax system.

Yes, the wealthy will pay a higher rate, but the bourgeios will NOT be paying anywhere near the rates they're paying now.

The UBERWEATHY, if they truly paid that tp rate (of about 35%) would end up paying most of the taxes.

Right now, of course, they are NOT paying taxes at the same high rates that the bourgois actually ARE paying. If fact many of the multimillionaires in this nation pay ZERO taxes

Wake up affluent class, and realize that YOU ARE PAYING the taxes that the UBERWEATHY are NOT.

Its not the welfare class that's fucking you over, its the SUPERWEALTHY that you're paying taxes for.

I'm retired Air Force. On my deployments to the Middle East, I operated and maintained contingency power plants and smaller generators for spot generation and emergency backup. I also operated and maintained aircraft arresting gear, which safely stops tailhook-equipped aircraft that can't stop safely on their own.

One facility I provided power to was the shop that uploaded target coordinates to avionics modules for ground attack jets. It's entirely possible that through my work I enabled the United States Air Force to accidentally kill innocent people, including babies.

But George likes to pretend I bayoneted day cares.
