After Ford cites Trump policies in their decision to cancel Mexican Ford Plant and invest that money in Michigan, Peso stumbles as Mexico in uproar...

MEXICO CITY (AP) -- Ford Motor Company's cancellation of plans to build a $1.6 billion auto manufacturing plant in San Luis Potosi has sounded alarms throughout Mexico.

Even as the country is being rocked by rowdy nationwide protests against a Jan. 1 gasoline price hike, the Ford news led the front pages of Mexico's most influential newspapers on Wednesday, and they tied the development directly to President-elect Donald Trump.

"Trump leaves Mexico without 3,600 jobs," read the headline on El Universal. "Ford's braking jolts the peso," said Reforma, referring to the Mexican currency's nearly 1 percent slump following the news.

What Mexico's government and people think about U.S. public policy, how it's executed, etc. is no more more important to me than the Man in the Moon. I also don't care what they, or, for that matter, the general American public, think about a private company's decision to leave or stays in the U.S.

I thought it was 700 jobs?

We are going to need a wall for sure
Part of the reason only 50% of the illegal immigrants coming across the border are Mexican, is that they have work (thanks to US corporations) at home. There will be an impact, but I'd rather see Americans have the jobs.

Why the hubub. Still going to be mexican jobs, just the Mexicans need to drive alittle further to work.

The thing that pissed me off is why the hell cant mexico make their own jobs?
If they'd get rid of the crooked politicians they have the perfect business models from their wealthy neighbors to the north.

Nobody is buying Ford's small cars so they decided they didn't need to make more of them. Instead they're investing in hybrid and electric cars.

Panic in Mexico?? Meh...

Mr Trump said Make America Great Again ...

He never said make Mexico great again! ;)

The problem in Mexico is that part of their economy is now built around illegal Mexicans working in the US and sending money back to Mexico. Much of the billions of dollars sent to Mexico are not being spent in the US and therefore are of little value to the US economy:

"During his presidential campaign, Donald Trump said he would stop allowing wire transfers of money out of the United States from Mexican nationals unless Mexico agreed to fund a border wall. Migrants in the United States are expected to have sent a record $27 billion in remittances into Mexico in 2016, according to BBVA Bancomer, an increase of more than $2 billion over 2015."

......

"Monica Arroyo, who lives in a village outside Ixmiquilpan, the Mezquital Valley’s largest town, said she depends on the $200 a month her daughter, an undocumented restaurant worker in Clearwater, Florida, sends home."

"“If they return our migrants, there’ll be more poverty, because up there they have work and help maintain us,” she said. “Here there is no work.”"

Migrants in U.S., Mexico fret about Trump threat to halt remittances

Yep. Remittance cash is second only to PEMEX in the mexican economy.
I think it's high time they learned to build a viable economy in their own country. It's not like they dont have the resources.

Even though so many jobs have gone to Mexico in the past, they still flood in to take other jobs here. Mexico needs to figure out things for themselves and do more to fix their own economy and help their poor. Since Trump's election, Mexicans have been panicking. Billions have been sent to Mexico by illegal aliens here. The government worries that the cash flow will stop. Many illegals here have no intention of ever becoming citizens. It's cheap living in Mexico and they come here to make money, file tax returns and get refunds of $10,000 a year and they send the money back to family so they can spend it in Mexico's economy and save plenty so the illegals can go back and retire. And it does hurt the American people.

I'm sure they will feel it when people can't come and go as they please to the U.S. and companies don't move there. Time for them to figure out some things.

Well, I have to agree with Old School on this one. Nobody is buying small cars so Ford is saying forget about it. But, they did say that they and GM are going to Trump and ask him to remove the EPA mandates because nobody wants to buy the cars that get that kind of mileage. I concur, new sheriff in town, dump the EPA mandates.

No just read the report. It's stupid for a company to pay to make something no one wants.

So yu believe everything you read? No wonder Hillary lost.
