I am old enough and fortunate enough to have survived measles contracted via the "measles party". The first kid in the neighborhood gets the measles and every kid comes over and they share a sucker. Everyone gets the measles and it's over a lot faster than if they'd waited for it to spread. We did chicken pox the same way.

I'm 70 years old and neither has killed me so far.

I'd like to see us reduce the size, scope and cost of the federal bureaucracy (with serious care, discussion and input from all sides), and then institute a carefully designed, standardized, regularly-scheduled, independently-administered auditing system for all recipients of federal dollars. And add the Fed to that auditing schedule.

I'd like to see us add four new higher tax brackets on individual income taxes with a 10% Minimum Effective Tax Rate. I would maintain the current tax treatments for corporations, but add a 10% Minimum Effective Tax Rate. No more corporations paying 0%.

Then I'd let that system run for three or four years and check progress and look for tweaks.

Regardless of the issue, my ideas for improving things are independent and not slave to simplistic, mindless partisan politics.
