To be fair, people (young & old) are quite ignorant of history (and that includes me).

I doubt that most Americans can explain the Rape of Nanking or the genocide in Cambodia, for example. And if you asked them about Rwanda, they would be totally at a lost to even know that it is a country's name, let alone the massacre.

Most people dislike history because they associate it with school teaching, in which they have to memorize names and dates in order to pass a test.

I hope that schools will continue to "teach" about the Holocaust by showing videos that show the unbelievable barbarity of the Nazi regime. The students should be told that they will NOT be tested on this topic. Then they can concentrate completely on the inhumanity of that event.

No mention of the fact that Nazi Germany self identified as socialists, and embraced socialist policies. No mention of the troubling history of genocide in the world, like the recent ones in the Sudan and Syria as the UN just watched. Instead, the UN and Left wing media and academia is obsessed with Israel a little North of the Sudan building walls for protection from terrorists. In fact, the UN has passed more resolutions against Israel than any other nation on earth.

Just let that sink in with countries like North Korea and Syria, and Cuba and Iran, etc.

History tells us a great deal about the human condition, so much so, that to embrace it would mean the destruction of Leftism, something Leftists will never allow. And if you study the history of anti-Semitism, you will then understand why Israel continues to be such a target. The reason for this hatred, however, is for you to try and figure out. No other people have encountered as much oppression over the centuries, not even close.

As I've posted elsewhere I've taught history for 11 years at the 7-12 level and I can say without reservation that it is NOT a priority for schools. All schools want to do is ram students through STEM classes or something they think will enable them to get a good job after graduating.

The Nazis were totally anti-socialist, and killed or imprisoned all the socialists.
They called themselves the National Socialist German Workers' Party, but they were totally against socialism. They supported the oligarchs, aristocracy, and military alliance.
The Nazis were totally right wing, capitalists.
They never nationalized any industries and all weapons were made by private companies, for profit.

You may want to research how the Nazis took control of the banking system and in turn controlled the private business sector....and eliminated Jewish owned businesses in the process
