Short term memory is the first to goIt is funny that we can remember things 60 years ago or more, but not what just happened.

My long term and short term memory is still pretty good. Of course we all lose blocks of memory over time even before we enter senior citizen status, but there are those things that make us go hmmm. Like when I have to look up how to spell a word that I have been spelling for decades. Or I run across an old USMB post that I have absolutely no recollection of having posted it or a thread I don't remember making. (I'm happy I still agree with myself. Interesting. A hunting buddy of mine gave all his venison to his mother, who fed it to her dogs.

But I guess it's inevitable that just as we don't have as many taste buds as we had in our youth, we probably don't have as many working brain cells as we once had. It is sufficient that we have enough though.
I wonder what the world would be like if those of us who have the experience and knowledge and wisdom we've acquired over the decades went along with the physical ability we once had? We all have thought at times how youth can be so wasted on the young.![]()
I play Pickleball a few times a week and it is mostly co-ed. I like it both ways. I play other sports too and I'm always learning new software and keeping the house running but the grandkids are what I like most. They keep me young and I realize I have the mind of a 7-year-old boy. Love it.I had a couple beers yesterday, i'm in my 70s.
I loved softball till they made it co-ed, I didn't like playing on a team with men. Of course my ball playing days were over anyway by then.
Last team I was on was co-ed and I was 50. I knew when I jumped up to catch a ball and hit the ground, my ball playing days were over.

You started early, nice. As I said, I was selfish and immature and waited to have my kids until after I got to travel. No regrets though. We really enjoyed our grands, now most are parents themselves. they live hundreds of miles away. We have 12 grands and 14 great grands, another one the way.
