I doubt that 99% of Blacks are "miserable failures". I live in an integrated apartment complex with 300 units. About 60% of residents are Blacks, and they are mostly driving nice, new cars. They leave the complex during the day, so I'd guess they have good, steady jobs.

Blacks are capable of doing what every other group did upon entering the American mainstream.

But there is something that held/holds them back:

1. It was the misfortune of black Americans that they were just on the verge of passing through the immigrant experience when damaging ideas about welfare and the lenient attitude about crime took hold. It could have happened to the Italians, Germans, Jews or Irish, but luckily for them, there were no Liberals around to “help” when they arrived. Coulter, "Mugged," chapter seven

For those Blacks who ARE miserable, and not taking advantage of Affirmative Action, they do have one very big obstacle. The one you just mentioned >> IMMIGRANTS. Foreigners willing to work for peanuts, and who are used to awful 3rd world working conditions, stream in (as liberals happily absorb them as VOTES), and compete with Blacks for low-end jobs and tech ones both.

Only the Right believes Capitalism via Commerce at our borders is useless; how socialist is that.

Not only does it satisfy the literal definition of the word, it satisfies the spirit of it as well. Affirmative Action is the racism of low expectations. It remedies nothing; it's instrumental in perpetuating the belief that blacks are inferior students and workers; it breeds resentment.
Two wrongs don't make a right, and Affirmative Action is both morally and pragmatically wrong.
