The definition of "debate"....a formal discussion in a public meeting in which opposing arguments are discussed". It doesn't include "fact checking". Debates are about opinions. WTF would we do if a candidate merely recited some "facts" that were certified propaganda and the other candidate was fact checked for every thing he said? Oh yeah that really happened.

If the debates concern public policy, they should be fact checked in real time. If done later few will pay attention to it.

They don't ever ask the right questions. I think candidates should be interrogated, not simply questioned.
