A good sentiment, but hard to undo legislation or regulations that are implement. My understanding is Trump deregulated some business EOs and such in 2017, but that is probably much easier than legislation.

The Dept of Education should have never been started. State Depts. of Education are bad enough. Schooling is a local affair, handled well by counties. A fed level is stifling centralization and mind boggling duplication. And don't forget all the weirdo crap happening in schools with homos and perverting kids with sex changes.

It wouldn't be hard to do. Getting Congress to do it would be the battle. The student loan stuff could be folded back into Agriculture or moved to the treasury. The Disabilities stuff could be done by block grants. Some of the stuff associated with the DoEd is already run by other agencies like head start and free lunch (which is also in the USDA)

Each state has their own department of education, so do we need a federal version?

Having said that, I think they just need to leave it alone. If trump shuts it down, the next Democrat president will just start it again, and doubtful the next republican president will shut it down again.
