I think there is plenty of money in insurance... We need to open the markets up so competition and drive prices down and institute more incentives to get to where we need to go. This thread isn't about Obama care so I won't get too deep, but there are solutions out there if we can stop all the petty bickering
I am confident that health is not a commodity.
Meaning what?
The full catalog of health services must be available to everyone, regardless of if the insurance system produces a surplus or not.
True but there is still a real element in the healthcare and insurance world that would benefit with more competition
The characteristics of the market economy do more harm to the insurance system than they can benefit it. Prices can go down and services can go up due to competition, of course, no doubt. But there will be collusion! And what health care insurance can a 72 year old geezer with plenty of bodily defects but low income expect? I think it is the ultimate solution that health is simply free and covered by tax money.
Corruption is common and deeply entrenched in the health care system. The doctor diagnoses a disease and types the result into his program. Depending on which pharmaceutical company provides this tool, different meds will be recommended. The doctors likes the tools best that are shipped with the highest awards, of course. Just an example.
