Damascus: A Yazidi refugee fleeing the jihadist offensive in Iraq has given birth to quintuplets in northeast Syria, an official with the UN refugee agency said yesterday.

"Tamam Ramadan had quintuplets on Thursday -- two boys and three girls -- after a caesarian section in hospital in Qamishli," the UNHCR official said, asking not to be identified by name.

"The babies are doing well," he added.

Tamam, 27, from Syria and married to an Iraqi, is a member of the Yazidi community whom jihadists of the Islamic State group regard as heretics.

Twice the young mother had to flee as IS militants swept in a lightning offensive across northern Iraq.

anyone know if people can "convert to yazidi" ?? The way the religion is described it seems to be me to be something left
over from Zoroastrianism-------to which one cannot "convert"
(as far as I know) There were definitely Zoroastrians in
Baghdad even after muslims got there. In fact that were
made into DHIMMIS------as dhimmis they were compelled to wear
a RED insignia--------TO ID THEM publically. Jews were marked in yellow and Christians with blue Quints is good

oh------are you sure? they are in a state of planned
obsolescence (spelling?) like the Zoroastrians of Mumbai--- so they really are of the ancient Zoroastrians???
sheeeesh. Maybe they can fix that glitch. good thing one of theirs had quints. That SMOKE STONED----is a better
alternative------maybe they can be convinced that sic "Zarathustra" (spelling) meant weed ........ I would hate to
