Missed her until now . She featured in the UK Proms last night and was jaw dropping brilliant .
Samara Joy .

Misty is a very simple intro --- Go to You Tube for other tracks .
The range and richness of her voice is astonishing .
Only 26 but genuinely worth comparing to Ella .
Both pitch perfect .
Enjoy .

Saw her perform at the Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival back in 2023, and knew then that she was a rare talent.

I saw Ella live back in the 70's as well, and her vocal range definitely reminded me of her.

I saw Ella in Brighton as an "old lady " and was mesmerised .

She came on stage , stuck a finger in her right ear, barely moved and then introduced us to her heavenly voice .

Am often close to tears when I hear her sing something like Blue Moon, or , Every Time we say goodbye .

The first time that I saw her, she did most of her famous hits at the Hollywood Bowl when she played there with Count Basie, I saw her again there with the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra in the 70's, and that was magical, but her energy with Count Basie was out of this world, especially when she did "A Tisket A Tasket", and did her trademark "scat" technique.
Great memories.

There has been no one like her since then. That's why I was so impressed with Samara Joy.
