In fact, we didn't increase spending beyond inflation for 4 straight years, and that ended up with a booming economy, no inflation save the good kind = low end wage inflation, low unemployment, real earnings increases, and a budget surplus. Now, a sensible rational intelligent person might suggest WHY DON'T WE CUT/NOT INCREASE SPENDING AGAIN LIKE NEWT DID IN THE 1990s because that really worked for all of America.
