WHAT do they use to "grow" this "meat"??? Toxic substances? Artificial chemicals? Harmful hormones and steriods?
Who knows WHAT the FDA would force them to put in this heinous atrocity they call "meat"!!

Besides, this industry would put MILLIONS of farmers out of business, lose their incomes, and have to sign up for welfare, which most states just don't have anymore, and the Democrats sure as heck don't give a dang about!!

ALL handlers, producers, sellers, breeders, veteranarians, and anybody that has a job in the meat industry would lose their jobs and income!

And the animals would keep on breeding themselves until they become unmanageable and start becoming a hazard for the local environments!! And then they'd have to be slaughtered to keep their numbers down............so whats the purpose in just throwing away food like that???

The economics of many states in the USA would be destroyed, as well as HUGE environmental impacts from massive amounts of animals being let loose to roam and breed on their own.

Chicken created using cultured animal cells was given the green light by the Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday, bringing lab-grown meat one step closer to consumers.

For the first time, the Food and Drug Administration has cleared lab-grown meat, created from cultured animal cells, for human consumption, the agency announced on Wednesday.

The FDA green light applies only to chicken products made by Upside Foods, a California-based company founded in 2015, though in its announcement the FDA said it is ready to work with other firms that are developing cultured animal cell food.

The agency said that it had evaluated information submitted by Upside Foods as part of a pre-market consultation, and that it had “no further questions at this time about the firm’s safety conclusion.”

The company can begin selling its product after inspection and label approval by the Department of Agriculture. Upside makes cell-cultivated meat using biopsies from living animals as well as “recently slaughtered animals who were already a part of the food system.” It expects these cells to be capable of indefinitely self-renewing, with the goal of eventually phasing out all animal components.

I wouldn't fear the product itself.
Rather - what else they would put in it.
Drinking multiple sodas daily takes years off your life. There is no argument to that.
Eating processed foods daily can and will kill you.
Eating foods high in salt/sugar absolutely is slow suicide.

Cricket flour is actually a pretty amazing product. It contains a library of nutrients and fatty acids.
The cost of raising millions of crickets is miniscule compared to 1000 acres of wheat.

That is why I would shy away from it. Not the protein itself, but what kind of binders/coloring/preservatives etc they would put in it.
In all honesty... it is probably no worse than eating boxed/cooked bacon that can sit at room temperature for days on end without spoiling. Hell to the no.

To me it depends on what is genetically modified. There are few edible plants today that are not genetically modified.
Farmers use to mix seeds from different years and overtime change the plants to produce more, be more rain/drought tolerant etc. They have done that for many-many years.
But then there is genetically modified vegetables like green beans. They were modified to produce more beans, but in the process obviously then the beans are considerably less nutritional than what they use to be. Carrots exactly the same.
These foods are less nutritional than the original strains.

This is a problem. You sit and eat a plate of food, but that plate of food isn't nearly as nutritious as you think it is because corporate-agri-business are all about yield, not nutrition. So much so, that the entire planet is in danger of losing original seeds.

Tofu is an untapped resource in the U.S. It has a lot of health benefits such as naturally lowering bad cholesterol.
It never should have been marketed as a "meat replacement". It will never replace the flavor and texture of meat. But instead as a stand alone nutritious "add on" you can put in foods to boost nutrition without really changing the flavor.
