Its time workers were freed from the schackles of capitalism, restore the means of production to the people, and create a glorious workers paradise here in America....

People Before Profits !!!! Lol

.

There appears to be quite a few people who seem to think that the purpose of a corporation is to provide jobs and a "living wage" (whatever the hell that is). Of course, the actual purpose of a corporation is to maximize shareholder value. I suspect they'd like to see that changed, by legislation, if necessary.

.

They gave that a good hard try in the old U.S.S.R.

It is amazing that, with that example still fresh, you Bolsheviks are openly advocating it in the United States.

Capitalism: "an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state."

What shackles?

Cashiers, burger flippers and occutards unite....
You have nothing to lose but your chains...

"A worker cooperative is a cooperative self-managed by its workers. This control may be exercised in a number of ways.

"A cooperative enterprise may mean a firm where every worker-owner participates in decision making in a democratic fashion, or it may refer to one in which managers and administration is elected by every worker-owner, and finally it can refer to a situation in which managers are considered, and treated as, workers of the firm.

"In traditional forms of worker cooperative, all shares are held by the workforce with no outside or consumer owners, and each member has one voting share.

"In practice, control by worker-owners may be exercised through individual, collective or majority ownership by the workforce, or the retention of individual, collective or majority voting rights (exercised on a one-member one-vote basis).[1]

"A worker cooperative, therefore, has the characteristic that the majority of its workforce own shares, and the majority of shares are owned by the workforce.[2]"

Most of us spent the majority of our waking adult hours in some kind of work place.
Why should we abandon democracy at its door?

He didn't say anything about 'shackles', he's talking about 'schackles' which are a kind of egg blintzes with chocolate taco sauce. Seriously, he has just got to be putting us on. Like, when he said 'means of production' he was talking about machinery, power tools, vehicles --all stuff everyone refers to as "capital equipment". I mean, he's advocating capitalism for the masses!

What's not to like?

Brings to mind Adlai Stevenson: "Eggheads of the world unite! You have nothing to lose but your yolks!"

As long as you don't want the US to prepare for war with our benefactor, China, I'm all behind you on that one.

"Wage slavery refers to a situation perceived as quasi-voluntary slavery,[1] where a person's livelihood depends on wages, especially when the dependence is total and immediate.[2][3]

"It is a negatively connoted term used to draw an analogy between slavery and wage labor by focusing on similarities between owning and renting a person..."

"Similarities between wage labor and slavery were noted in ancient Rome by Cicero,[12] while the pervasive practice of voluntary slavery in medieval Russia indicates the previous historical coexistence of slavery and voluntary choice.[13]

"Before the American Civil War, Southern defenders of African American slavery invoked the concept of wage slavery to favorably compare the condition of their slaves to workers in the North."
