Wolfgang Petersen, who wrote and directed The Neverending Story (1984), died recently at age 81. My prayers go out to his family.

I really fucking hated that movie when I was a kid in the 80's. I couldnt possibly understand its appeal. Same goes for "Labyrinth" and "The Dark Crystal".

it's a great movie that inspires kids to read books. i have a bookmark that says "Books can take you anywhere!"

He was best known for the finest film ever made on WWII, "Das Boot", or "The Boat" in English, in 1981. He also made "Air Force One" with Harrison Ford, and "In the Line of Fire" with Clint Eastwood.

Who remembers "Enemy Mine" from 1985? Loved that movie.
