Woke lunatics in Maryland state government block deportation of illegal alien arrested for DUI 2x over the legal limit

No, it applies to many countries, we have third party agreements

Panama, Costa Rica. El Salvador, and many African countries have all agreed to accept third party deportees from the United States
Come on man. That’s not how the law works. ‘They’ll take deportees’ isn’t a safe-third-country agreement, and without one, you can’t bypass asylum rights just by dumping people somewhere else. Again. Only Canada has the agreement in place. No one else.

None of this is a good reason to deport someone

Sorry Joe, but US law recognizes two border/immigration conditions: Illegal entry, and illegal presence. Forget the DUI, his being caught here constitutes Illegal Presence, and the sole legal remedy for that is immediate deportation.

THAT'S THE LAW. Want it changed? Write your congressman.

His having committed DUIs is just icing on the cake.

Wrong we routinely send people to other countries that will take them

And have for years

You have no clue what you are talking about

Joe is saying the US doesn't have the right to determine and enforce its immigration law

You're confused. I'm telling you the law not asking for your opinion. You’re describing deportation, not asylum law. The issue is whether people get to apply, not where they’re sent after they lose. They get to apply and be heard. You are right about what happens after a fair hearing. Trump and the GOP are trying to violate applicants' right to apply.

You are telling me your bastardized view of the law that doesn’t match reality

Sure under certain circumstances they get to apply

Yes it does. I am correct. Look it up. I dare you. In fact lets check with Gemini:

I put our entire debate into Gemini and asked which one of us is accurate about asylum law. Do it yourself. I'll put the text you can paste in your own browser into Gemini yourself:
Here is our debate you can paste in yourself:
Which debater is more accurately describing Asylum Laws in place? Debater A: Exception basically only applies to Canada. No one else has an agreement. So Trump can deport Canadians without offering asylum. that's about it. Debater B: No, it applies to many countries, we have third party agreements Panama, Costa Rica. Yes somehow they have scads of misrepresentative material already locked and loaded for dispersal within seconds of a fact based post contrary to their wishes and feelings

I don’t have a lot of use for Jeff Gahler.

He is a thug.
I dont know much about the sheriff

But if you dont like him he must be ok

Just for grins what dont you like?

In that case you and Tiger Woods have something in common

How many cars have you totaled while under the influence?

Me? Zero.

Can't say I never drove under the influence. When I was young and stupid I did stupid shit. Never got caught.

Unlike, let's say, George W. Bush, who did get caught driving Drunk, and they still let him be president after someone else got more votes.

Still doesn't make what this sheriff did right. Maryland has a law that you don't turn people over to the ICEstapo for petty offenses.

Joe is like all leftists out there. They love to lecture you about personal responsibilities until one of their own committed an infraction or crime. From there on, they blame the racist law, systemic racism, institutional racism, Trump did it, etc.

They do the same thing with science. Call themselves the party of science but reject real science.

Except this guy did 37 days for the DUI, which is more than, let's say, Dubya did for his DUI.

So he took personal responsibility.

The law in Maryland is you don't turn people over to ICE for petty offenses.

If ICE tracked this guy down on their own, then this wouldn't be an issue.

As a practical matter, though, we aren't going to be able to deport 13 million people, so we need a real solution.
