And we would have more supply if Biden hadn't drained much of the SPR for the 2022 midterms (and which Schumer blocked Trump adding to as 45.

And Biden slowed new wells thanks to his environmental policies, such as the fewest offshore leases in history.

Remember it takes several years to get from first hole to production, so Biden coasted on the Trump 45, while making a mess for 47.

Many refineries need heavier crude oil to maximize flexibility of gasoline, diesel and jet fuel production.

Today, most crude oil produced in the United States is light, including much of what’s produced in the Permian and Bakken.

Light crudes are not good replacements for the heavy crude oil we get from Canada and Mexico.

The United States is a net exporter of total petroleum, with record-high exports of both crude oil and refined products (like gasoline and diesel) as of 2026.

While it exports significant amounts of crude, the U.S. remains a net importer of crude oil to supply refineries specialized for heavy crude, creating a unique, high-volume, two-way trade in oil.

Current demand in the United States for refined oil products significantly exceeds domestic crude oil production. As a result, the United States must import crude oil.

So we'll buy from Mexico and Venezuela, or we can always take over Cuba and start drilling oil off the coast.

The last thing the oil companies want is more supply...it lowers the price.
We have not built a new refinery in many decades. New refineries are more efficient than old ones that are renovated. Nuclear power plants were/are the same due to you intellectual retards. The price would be lower. Did we stop building oil pipelines or did we increase using railroads to transport it as pipelines are much cheaper.

I suppose that's why oil execs are clear that they see no need to build new refineries in the US.

U.S. refiners are not planning to make big-ticket investments to process more domestic crude and less oil from top suppliers Canada and Mexico, industry sources and analysts said,

That figure is misleading, as it includes refined products we export to other countries.

Petroleum is a global commodity. Even if we produced more, it wouldn't bring down the price if you keep taking Russian, Iranian, and Venezuelan crude off the market.

Based on data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), President Joe Biden has overseen the highest average oil production in U.S. history.

Trump has been in office for more than a year. Why didn't he finish restocking the SPR when prices were low?

Biden's use of the SPR broke OPEC's stranglehold on oil prices, bringing down the price of gas, and making millions for the US Treasury.

If only Trump were half as smart as Biden.

Biden drained our reserve right before the midterms.

Key takeaways: Canada and Mexico, neither of which are impacted by Iran.
