Foreign aid is a form of soft power which nets us goodwill toward the US around the world, and allows us to access critical raw materials. It also mitigates diseases which could find their way here.

We get huge returns from a small investment.

If we idiotically give up our soft power, China and Russia will rush in to fill the gap.
