Just print the money, pass it out and the we'll all absorb the hidden tax. Neither party, no one in govt. has any intentions of truly cutting spending. This whole good guy, bad guy bit in politics regarding spending is stale.

The problem is that we are a nation of consumers and borrows. Not builders and savers. It goes right to the very top of our countries monetary and fiscal policies. It isn't going to change until the drunkards run out of sauce. That will mean the end of the current fiat policies. Until then, print it up! Hand it out, spend spend spend.

Future generations will be more than happy to be born into what amounts to nothing short of slavery.

Is it possible that the Founders were so brilliant, or inspired by Providence, that they wrote a Constitution that foresaw the problem, and declined the power to directly tax income....and it fell to the Progressives to insert said poison pill?

They did. They knew all too well what would happen should the consolidation of powers over the economic life of the people happen. They also knew that fiat money, or other certificate currency, including clipping, would be a disaster to the people and turn them into serfs and slaves. Gold and silver only as legal tender.

The system they designed was brilliant. But, men being the imperfect creature that they are, have bastardized the brilliant notion of limited rule under rights and private property laws. Now we have a whoel sector of citizen thinking that amounts to graveling at the feet of the king for a coin and piece of fruit.

3. You have proven that 'what conservatives want' is a subject beyond your ken. Stick to things with which you are more familiar...such as sewers and the content thereof.

4. For edification: what conservatives want is a nation based on individualism, free markets, and limited constitutional government. This will insure optimum success for all, long lives, and satisfaction.

I say 'satisfaction,' because giving things to folks, as opposed to earning them for oneself, is the sure recipe for resentment with self and with the giver.
