At one point, I would have almost agree with everything you stated, but not now. I think these moves were made early in the primaries so Biden could win the nomination outright.

You have to remember----------->Bernie isn't going to carry 1 Southern state, and New York knows what butters its bread, and that is the financial sector, so he is going to get clobbered there.

The key for the DNC, is to get to the convention WITHOUT Bernie in the lead, so they have a plausible excuse to not give it to him, if in fact the convention is brokered. From my way of thinking, they have succeeded in doing that now.
