Do We Go to War to Prevent Iran from Having Nuclear Weapons?
I hate war. As a historian, I have read countless books about war, especially those over the past ce
With due respect to Mr. Lewis, I think he misses the point.
Has there ever been a time (in recent history) when a sovereign nation formally and emphatically declared that it intended to obliterate a nearby country, as well as one on the other side of the world?
Nuclear aspirations or not, Iran declares constantly that it will not rest until Israel is gone, along with every Jew who lives there. They declare that the United States is the "Great Satan," and that it will do the same to the U.S. in the event that it obtains the means to do so. It is also worth mentioning that neither Israel nor the U.S. has any animosity against Persia or its people, except in reaction to the atrocities with which we are all familiar.
This alone justifies the attacks on Iran, as well as the pursuit of any means necessary to prevent Iran from building the tools necessary to carry out its stated intentions.
The lack of expressions of outrage from the usual suspects at the U.N. is telling.
