Why would any American be opposed to a statue honoring George Washington?

Are you for this statue, which will be the largest ever created?

Y’all excuse me for this stray thought, but I needed to post it somewhere to get it out of my mind. Since the White House was built by slaves and is therefore a symbol of slavery, why wouldn’t a good leftist—especially a Black one—want the entire building torn down?

See the title and subject of the thread being about George Washington.
And not taking away from the FACT that the OP then mentioned trump.

And WASHINGTON State has honored George.

In WA State, there is a town named George, and there is a monument.

Why would any American be opposed to a statue honoring George Washington? What he did for this country greatly outweighs any personal failings he might have had. He literally gave us everything we have. Without him, we would have nothing—just a banana republic.

After Donald Trump's victory last November vaulted America's far-right wing to new heights, his wealthy fans in the tech space are eager to erect new monuments to American history and might. Trump himself wants to build a "National Garden of American Heroes" in Washington. Texas Republicans want to build statues to slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk. And in Austin, a startup founder wants to memorialize the nation's first president in grand fashion.

Austin-based college dropout by the name of Mo Mahmood is attracting backers for a project to build a 650-foot-tall statue of George Washington. Mahmood's startup, More Monuments, has been shopping the project to anyone who will listen. A former University of Delaware student, Mahmood told Bloomberg that he wants to create an iconic monument that makes people feel proud to be American.

"When you look at my statue, you'll be able to tell it's George Washington, and I think that's important," Mahmood told Bloomberg. "When they look at it, I want people to feel a sense of hope and optimism."

To date, More Monuments has completed just one work: a 54-foot-tall statue of an oil derrick called Wellspring of Progress. Unveiled in December and located near Lockhart, just outside of Austin, the monument is a "tribute to the breakthrough oil strike that changed America that made it the number one energy producer ahead of WWI and WWII." The monument cost around $40,000 to complete, according to a pitch document on More Monuments' website. Venture capitalist Rayyan Islam was one of 125 backers who pitched in to complete the project.
Because statues that are that big aren't very good. Nothing to do with Washington.

He also took an army of 1200 men into Pennsylvania to forcefully put down the Whiskey Rebellion and get the taxes from the farmers at gun point.

How very Socialist of him.
At that time Whiskey was an economic giant. We got tough on whiskey as we see in stills and taxing it was a controversy. We had no legalized income tax, and our currency would be backed by gold and silver although during the revolutionary war we continental fiat currency note.

Do you discount Washington's contribution to the United States?
No, I used that as an example for people who discount Donald Trump's contribution to the United States due to Trump's personal failings.

The First Republican President Sent Americans off to Kill Their Fellow Americans on Behalf of Africans

If Washington had been born in the 19th Century, he would have become Commander-in-Chief of the Confederacy. With more patient leadership, the loyal Whites would have defeated the upper-class race-traitors.
What do you mean by "race-traitors," coward? Speak up, *****.

Well, that is not me. Thanks to General Creech, I learned to emotionally compartmentalize. I can set aside Trump’s failings and concentrate only on his successes, which are considerable. He was able to control the border when Democrats were saying it was impossible. If the problems we’re facing were not so serious, I probably wouldn’t have voted for Trump. The fact is, something has to be done before the country collapses, and I’m praying that Trump will do it.
