I am curious....why is the Super Bowl on Sunday? Saturday is the perfect day for this event....since most people work on Monday and have to worry about the next day as they are enjoying the game. A saturday Game would allow everyone to party all day, party after the game......and more people would see the entire game rather than having to leave a party early because they have to get up the next day....

I'd say because there is more money to made by hotels, advertising, and gambling houses if it's a full weekend, and the build-up is bigger. If people are flying out Saturday night, there goes a big chunk of the weekend.

People would be more likely to stay through Sunday because they wouldn't have to be back at work till monday........but the actual attendees are a small number compared to people who watch the game at home and attend parties........

Well, I think it's for the same reason they don't start the game at 1:00 pm like they used to. They want to extend the advertising and the build-up.

Ratings....

Because people have lives outside of football. And Sunday nights are a big ratings boost where people will usually spend their evenings watching television. They don't on Saturdays or Fridays. So networks used to put out good stuff on those nights. On Sunday it was family night and usually not much for blockbuster movies because they didn't have to.
HOWEVER....
NFL is, and has been, mostly controlled by the gambling industry.

I see your point for normal programing.....but The Super Bowl isn't a regular show.....so making it a special day would make sense for Saturday.....when everyone could stay up late and not have to worry about work the next day.

It's history and tradition at this point.

Blue Laws were once common. (businesses were once closed on Sundays...especially Bars that sold alcoholic drinks)

So people began the tradition of hosting Superbowl parties involving beer, nachos, chips, wings, pizza and etc) a whole industry that revolves around the private residence party.

And despite the stigma, most guys actually have some sort of morality. Most have the idea that they are a "good guy" and do not wish to infringe upon the innocents in our culture by using coarse language in front of women or children. (Guys en masse tend to have someone who cusses a lot in attendance)
The NFL has ALWAYS had morality clauses in EVERY player's contract. A player's DUI conviction is an automatic contract breaker. (Or any other legal violation)

What?

I heard they are thinking on it.....Or, just start the game at 1600. Easy peasy.

Agree
Most people do not travel for the game

Start at 4 and end by 8
Nobody’s work the next day will be affected

When the SB first started it was late afternoon start
