This is for all the idiots that think pipelines are dangerous.

A train carrying crude oil derailed Monday afternoon in North Dakota and was apparently hit by a second train, triggering explosions and a smoky fire that could be seen for miles, according to authorities and residents.
An estimated 10 tank cars were on fire, authorities said. No injuries were reported among the train crews.
By early evening, the Cass County Sheriff's Office was preparing to evacuate some residents as a precaution, because winds may shift.
The eastbound, 106-car Burlington Northern Santa Fe train derailed about 2:10 p.m. CT (4:10 p.m. ET) just west of Casselton, near Fargo, a rail company spokeswoman toldInforum.
Initial reports indicated that another freight then plowed into the derailment, but the sheriff's office said about 5 p.m. that it remained unclear which train was hit.

We should ban homes too. They are always catching fire. Planes can hit skyscrapers, so we should probably get rid of buildings. Hell, if we are going to be safe, we better get rid of all the planes too. Oh, and cars as well. In fact, we might just consider banning all things that run on electricity. Electrical fires take many lives every year.

Pipelines and trains will always be a part of our life. As will the accidents involving them. Those accidents would be far less were businesses more maintenance minded. Both our rail system and pipelines are overage and in bad need of replacement.

Both pipelines and rails carry very dangerous cargos neccessary for our lives. And should be kept up to standards with that in mind.

pipe lines not dangerous? depends who is vandalizing it, or the ones that live with the spills from pipe lines.

If those cars had been carrying safe coal instead of oil none of this would have happened.

Have you ever tried fitting coal into a tank car? :eusa_eh:

Gotta admit that I haven't. Please be so kind as to benefit us with your many years of experience!

Well first you have to feed the coal through the little hatch in the top, then to get it out the tank car has to be turned upside down and shaken. Kinda like getting pepper out of a pepper shaker. It ain't a pretty sight.

Nice of you to totally kiss the point of the thread.

Pipelines should be banned because a pipe is a phallic symbol which is offensive to many environmentalist.

So, who was the world's greatest lover?

Was a little Italian guy who pronounced his name: "Pipp-uh-leeny".
