Why Socialism will never take over America

When did Socialism become a bad word? Why do Republicans use it like the boogie man under the bed my cousin's used to afraid of. So I tried to think of an example and then it hit me.

The great steel makers, the Empire era, and then the economic explosion afterwards. Even the boom of the 50's. Great private companies formed, countless wealth generated, skyscrapers sprouted in our big cities. But you take away one thing and those skyscrapers fall to the ground, hell, even the elevators wouldn't work. The most socialist thing ever, the water tower.

Owned by the city, the town. That public water tower allowed cities and towns to grow vertically and it changed the dynamics of the marketplace.

We are a social market democracy: a regulated economy with capitalistic and socialistic influences.

Unfettered capitalism is as much of a failure as communism.
Just make it up as you go lady. The "liberal" way.

We don’t make anything up. We don’t have to because liberal social democracies are more successful than unfettered capitalism, which only benefited the wealthy.

If Republicans told the people that they were going to crash the economy and throw all of them out of work, and transferred all of their wealth to the top 10%, no one would ever vote for them.

Republicans can’t tell the truth. All they have are lies about the economy. There isn’t one economic number out there which shows that Republicans are better for the economy than Democrats, and yet any American will tell you that the economy does better on the Republicans even though that’s a lie.

If Republicans told the people that they were going to crash the economy
DOW 51,561.93
The most recent Q1 GDP update reported a $32.38 trillion nominal GDP and a 1.6% annualized real growth
Consumer Spending:
Rose \(1.4\%\), providing steady demand primarily in the services sector.
Business Investment: Surged \(7\%\), heavily bolstered by rapid, AI-related data center and infrastructure rollouts.

and throw all of them out of work
The national unemployment rate in the U.S. is 4.3%
California's unemployment rate is 5.3%. This places it among the highest in the nation :auiqs.jpg:

and transferred all of their wealth to the top 10%, no one would ever vote for them.
The median U.S. household income is $83,730
Top .01% share rose drastically on the Democrat's watch: Share of Net Worth Held by the Top 0.1% (99.9th to 100th Wealth Percentiles)

Republicans can’t tell the truth. :auiqs.jpg:

Neat thing about being Democrat are words are free and narrations are soothing.

America is federation of independent states each with the power to determine their own economy. Even considering the supremacy clause a state has the right and power to leave the federation. People also have the freedom to leave any state they feel doesnt meet their needs.
So while some states like CA NY and Wash increase their socialist policies other states see the results and do the opposite. Consequently people leave and move to states like FL NV TX and SC. The socialist states lose taxes, wealth creators, and skilled workers who transfer their assets to the Capitalist states. They are replaced by illegals, the homeless, criminals, and an assortment of non producing parasites who will drain the eroding tax base and drive more people out.

This freedom that comes with a federation makes each state an experiment. We can see the failure of socialism clearly. It fails economically culturally and morally.
So then no central government has the power to mandate socialist policies. They are effectively defeated in the courts and simply by people voting with their feet.

The medicine that defeats socialism is freedom.
Everything else in this statement seems 100% correct except the bolded sentence. We sort of fought a war over this issue from 1861-1865.

Most socialist state in the country--West Virginia. Number two--New Mexico. Number three--North Dakota. Red, red, and red.

New Mexico is as blue as Colorado. Kamala won both in 2024. Adjust your thinking.

Great, so number two is blue. West Virginia is red. The stat that really gets me, local government employees over population. Obviously, that old Bluegrass tune, "Lay around the schack till the mail train comes back and roll in my sweet baby's arms", was about West Virginia.

North Dakota, who I thought would be number one, came in third. With both a state bank, the only one in the country, and North Dakota Mill and Grain Elevator, I would thought they would be number one.

Until vote fraud takes over. Then it becomes a 2nd Amendment issue.

What do you get out of lying like that?

We cannot compete to make products that other nations undercut us in price and even quality. And we need to have manufacturing return to make every product we need to survive even if it is a smaller percentage than foreign made ones. You do not understand. And I do not fully understand. We live off of a fiat currency mostly controlled by foreign interests. The owners of the federal reserve slowly take control of nations like ours and the politicians help them to do it.

They're still gonna try and shove it down our throats

Down with the union

‘Not one economic number’? That’s always a dangerous phrase. The moment someone names inflation, energy production, unemployment, GDP growth, wage growth, business formation, or market performance from a Republican administration, your claim immediately crumbles.

Outside of that, the rest of your post suffers from the same problem: strong opinions presented as settled facts.

As long as we continue to misapply capitalism, socialism will continue to interest more people. That would be a very bad thing.

But it would be a self-inflicted wound, provided by the aggressively ignorant American Right, who don't understand that smart, proper controls are not the bane of capitalism, they are a critical component of capitalism. It's about finding equilibrium between too much and too little, not about just running with one or the other.

Meanwhile, Americans are struggling badly and we're about to see (after the SpaceX IPO) the world's first trillionaire.
