Why Is There So Much Disrespect For The Elderly In This Country?
It is honestly one of the worst, most corrosive aspects of this society. Young people have no respect for seniors. Get out of my way! Look at that old goat! I'm gonna knock her down and take her purse!
In countries like Japan, seniors are respected. Seniors are everything. They have lived the longest, acquired the most experience, have seen and learned the most wisdom from life, they are the final word on everything.
In this country, it is all about the young. Companies market to the young, business is geared to the young. Wisdom is not recognized. The young have no experience, they have lived through nothing, they have seen nothing, they have acquired nothing, they have done nor contributed nothing. It is the old people who have done the most, contributed the most, spent decades working jobs, doing research, inventing, building what we have. The young are just along enjoying it.
Yet despite that, for 50-60 years or more of science, engineering, labor and more creating the world we have today, the young just cast them aside like an old newspaper, not realizing their greatest resource are those who have lived through and done and experienced the most.
I heard once that while some foreign business models look 25-30 years or more ahead, the American business model only looks 5 years ahead. The young here don't have time for the old, they don't understand or even like the old. They forget that old is just an inescapable phase of living and one day, sooner than they realize, they will be old too.
