In the Clean Debate Zone because I don't want a flame fest. Genuinely interested in why Americans constantly feel the need to tell the rest of the world how much better it is than the rest of the world. In case you haven't guessed, I don't think it is. Biggest military, sure? Richest (well debatable - have you seen your debt recently?). Being best has doesn't mean you have the biggest military. Who cares? Same with wealth. If 1 per cent have 80 per cent of it, it means nothing.

We have the most powerful nation on earth. We are also the most corrupt. Inside and out.
We are not the greatest. Sure, we afford freedoms in our country that most dont offer, but how long will that last? The d and r parry is hellbent on making us all serfs.

Some Americans do that, some don't. I neither know nor care if there is a "better" country in the world than the US. Depending on how you define "better" maybe there are several, maybe none. Who cares? The US just happens to be the best country for me.

We suck. But would i live somewhere else? No.
Many European countries would be better imo, but then you think about your financial well being and everything goes away.

Clip from the newsroom soon to be posted I imagine.....

It would be nice if the folks who are running the nation would remember what made us great ("best" or "greatest" is a construct that each of us invoke) in the first place.

It wasn't the power or influence...it was what we did with it.

At some point in the next 20 years, there will be a massive 9/11 style attack that is largely facilitated by both the anger we're stoking now and the unwillingness of one-time allies to work with us. At that point the tribalism in our politics will be pointed at whomever is in office at the time of attack for "not stopping it".

Speaking of 9/11, the original blueprint was much more sinister that what was eventually unleashed. As many as 20 jet-liners over the Pacific were to have been blown out of the sky by synchronized explosives. If I remember correctly, it was supposed to take place on July 4. Needless to say that this would have killed a great many Americans returning home from Asia. The barrier to entry of such a plan taking place today is as thin as it was on 9/10/2001. As we tariff the Philippines for no reason, Australia for no reason, Japan for no reason, Korea for no reason, Malaysia for the most minor of reasons, ect... do you think their police/intelligence services give two shits about stopping an attack? They may give half a shit just because it's their job but if 9/11 were to happen today, it would likely be met with little more than a collective shrug. We caught Ramsey Yousef and his Uncle through cooperation with multiple nations and the ISI.... The nations we now call "shit holes". We're not likely to get that sort of cooperation any time soon, if ever.

We didn't earn the outsized attack on our population...but we have earned the disdain of our previous allies thanks to Trump and his senseless foreign policy.

Idiots like you act like the world began in 2016. Grow the fck up.

There is a fundamental difference between the U.S. and everybody else. Every other country is founded on territory and ethnicity. The U.S. was founded on the basis of a set of ideals, one that was revolutionary at the time and remains unique.

Our rights do not come from government; they PRECEDE government, and it is government's job to protect those pre-existing rights. We have no king and reject even the idea of an inherited aristocracy.

Our government and laws were based on Judeo-Christian ideals and concepts. We have both freedom OF religion and freedom FROM religion.

We have the ability, as citizens to make major changes - indirectly - in our government and its policies.

The USA is one of the least corrupt nations on earth. Most nations rely on bribery at all levels. Of course there is some corruption, any organization run by humans will have some corruption since there are always people willing to use their positions for their own benefit. In theUSA we discourage that by prosecuting corrupt official when they are exposed,

The tariffs we are placing on other nations are reciprocal ones. Ever since WW2 our “trading partners” have levied tariffs on our exports to protect their industries from competition from us.

Because even in California I can have 40+ AR Pattern Weapons and 6 + AK/ AKM Pattern Weapons and an HK 91 ( G3 ) and a British L1A1 …

Rambling and irrelevant to the topic.

That is the ideal, the reality falls short.

It used to be that America was great because we were a Constitutional Republic. We were a Christian nation built on a biblical moral standard. No ... we were never perfect but there was an underlying level of civility based on a general knowledge of right vs. wrong. "The Golden Rule." We used to work towards the "American dream" when it was still possible to achieve it.

Today's America is a shell of its formal self. We're rapidly headed toward 3rd Worldism and total depravity (especially in the big, blue cities). Drug abuse is running rampant; unemployment is on the rise; wages are down; prices are up; home foreclosures are reaching record highs month after month. It's still better than most other nations (for the time being) but I foresee a dark future. There's no political Party or "righteous" man who can save us so we're going to have to save ourselves as individuals.

I miss the good old days. But I'm not so naive as to believe they're coming back. So I'm working full time to prepare for the silent economic depression heading our way. It's a fun hobby and I'm certain it will pay off.
