Zone1 Why is the US the best country in the world?

The USA is one of the least corrupt nations on earth. Most nations rely on bribery at all levels. Of course there is some corruption, any organization run by humans will have some corruption since there are always people willing to use their positions for their own benefit. In theUSA we discourage that by prosecuting corrupt official when they are exposed,
If only this were true.

Of course. Government by its very nature is flawed and incompetent.
Of course. Government, like every human creation, reflects those that create it and humans are flawed and incompetent.

In the Clean Debate Zone because I don't want a flame fest. Genuinely interested in why Americans constantly feel the need to tell the rest of the world how much better it is than the rest of the world. In case you haven't guessed, I don't think it is. Biggest military, sure? Richest (well debatable - have you seen your debt recently?). Being best has doesn't mean you have the biggest military. Who cares? Same with wealth. If 1 per cent have 80 per cent of it, it means nothing.
We have incredible infratructure. Our roads are wide and well maintained. Our cities are developed significantly better than most cities outside the US. We have the best food in the world. We have cheap gas prices. There are endless restaurants and entertainment venues. We have the most diverse landscapes of all the countries in the world. We have theme parks... and Las Vegas. We have the best homicide detectives in the world, the most competent police force, and we have the best hospitals. We are completely free from any war on our home front. Our cultural arts, like music and cinema, are unmatched. We have the shared pride of having a history of defeating all of our enemies and saving the world from tyrants. We have freedom of speech, and most of all, we have guns. Cool f***ing guns. :dunno:

YOu cant claim that the US sucks and also claim to be on the right, let alone further right than me. :cuckoo:
So you think corruption is good? You think insider trading is good? You think think toppling other govts for corporations is good? You think sending aid to terrorists is good? STFU you idiot.
I love america. I hate our government.
And yes, you are a huge statist compared to me.

Calling the US corrupt is stupid. Corruption does exist, but we pounce on anyone that we find who is corrupt. Pointing out exceptions is not going to win you this debate.

Sorry, but Yanks are No.1 for the illusory truth effect. Ignore all this Flag Allegiance singing and other rhyming myths, form pixies based on reality, based on dreams is America's downfall. Unfortunately, Yanks can't see and accept this, but that's their culture.

Yes because, we slapped the sh*t out of the brits. We slap EVERYONE who thinks they can defeat us. No nation can defeat the American spirit. We do not give up, we do not surrender. Its a supreme level of patriotic commitment that very few cultures could possibly understand. Dont get it twisted... if whatever country you come from had this same spirit, you would be a much better nation. All nations should have this spirit, but they dont.

It used to be that America was great because we were a Constitutional Republic. We were a Christian nation built on a biblical moral standard. No ... we were never perfect but there was an underlying level of civility based on a general knowledge of right vs. wrong. "The Golden Rule." We used to work towards the "American dream" when it was still possible to achieve it.

Today's America is a shell of its formal self. We're rapidly headed toward 3rd Worldism and total depravity (especially in the big, blue cities). Drug abuse is running rampant; unemployment is on the rise; wages are down; prices are up; home foreclosures are reaching record highs month after month. It's still better than most other nations (for the time being) but I foresee a dark future. There's no political Party or "righteous" man who can save us so we're going to have to save ourselves as individuals.

I miss the good old days. But I'm not so naive as to believe they're coming back. So I'm working full time to prepare for the silent economic depression heading our way. It's a fun hobby and I'm certain it will pay off.
I love this piece. You've hit it on the head. Also glad you have not politicised this comment (I know you might have wanted to, but kudos for not doing so). I think both political parties have let the people down over the past 25-30 years. I initially blamed Republicans, but this last election showed just how dumb the Dems are. Their own egos, arrogance and hubris were the main cause of the Trump win, but they will never see it.

Meh. That is not a sign of greatness. The spirit my country has is equal to that, and I don't see that as great. Patriotism and jingoism are pretty close to fascism IMO.

All those things count for both countries I live in too. I would argue about your police forces. I think the way the police are set up in the US is, to put it bluntly, stupid. They need to be a lot more streamlined. It's not a very efficient set up. I would have our health systems over yours any day of the week. And I'm glad we don't have unfettered access to guns. Meh, American culture will never equal those of Europe or China or Japan. Country is too young. What culture do you bring? Maccas and KFC? US movies are outstanding. And music I guess.

Patriotism is nothing close to fascism. Fascists go around violently attacking their political opponents, they shout down opposition speakers, they stage riots, they murder and imprison their political opponents, etc.

You should watch the tv series "Mussolini". Youll have a much better idea of what fascism is if you watch it. You will be shocked by how much it looks like modern day democrats in the US. They do ALL of the things that Mussolini and his henchmen did, not to the same extreme, but they clearly check every "fascist" box.

Then why do THEY watch our movies and listen to our music? Americans dont follow ANYTHING from those places, but the world sure loves OUR culture. :dunno:

You're right. I should have phrased that better. Jingoism and patriotism lead to fascism.

I think you'd be surprised how much they don't, and how much a lot of US artists - especially movie directors - offer European and Asian directors/movies as their inspirations. And look, nobody is denying the US has given the world a lot.
