Why is the GOP treating sarah palin like a fragile little Alaskan beauty queen, and won't let the press talk to her until they stop being "mean" to her?

McCain campaign manager Rick Davis says Palin would not sit for any interviews "until the point in time when she'll be treated with respect and deference."

I'm sure she's a smart capable woman who should be able to handle herself, particularly since we are told she's ready to be a heartbeat away from the presidency.

The media treated Hillary Clinton like crap for over a decade. They were a pack of wild dogs to her - but she had the cajones to stand up and punch them back in the mouth. She didn't take shit from anyone. She didn't hide from the press, and I respect her for that. She's a real woman. A tough woman.

Actually, they just announced that she's going to be doing an interview with Charlie Gibson. He'll toss her a few softballs. She'll do fine cause there won't be any real questions. They'll roll her out carefully. Karl Rove is doing a good job as McCain's "unofficial advisor". Nothing less than I'd expect from him.

Personally, I'm going to assume she's smart and can handle herself. Hell, she refers to herself as a pitbull with lipstick. I would think she'd be insulted that some old Republican men feel the need to "protect" her from the mean media.

It’s her views, opinions and history that the republicans want to hide. Why do Dems speak of Palin as some bimbo who is being held captive in a concentration camp? I bet when she feels like she wants to get out there and deal with the critical press, she will. Maybe she doesn't WANT to make all the gaffes that her fellow candidate are making.

McCain's approval rating among all women, and even white women is down since he picked Palin. McCain's pander for the women vote was pathetic and nobody fell for it. Particularly women. Palin is only helping with the base - the christian theocrats. You can have that vote.

funny thing, Hillary is the one who ran a dirty campaign... Hillary is the one who got caught lying, Hillary is the one who even when it was clear she wouldn't win, refused to concede for the good of the party and caused a major rift inside the DNC. Personally I don't think she should be coddled the way she is, however I understand why the DNC honored her, she did make a historic bid for the nomination and I expect they'd have done the same thing for Obama if the roles were reversed.

Personally I never wanted Hillary to be President and I never wanted her on the ticket with Obama either so either way I got what I wanted so I'm happy
