It’s especially bad in the federal government. They will give a promotion to a female black with a high school diploma and less than a year’s experience over a white with a graduate degree and several years of experience.

I know two whites who were passed over for promotions in favor of ridiculously less-qualified blacks. (The example in the first paragraph is one.) Both sued their agencies, and both won their cases. They got retroactive pay, and the two blacks were demoted back to their original jobs.

Historically speaking, you are right. However, two wrongs do not make a right. I have 2 daughters who are now in their 50's. (I am 82 years old) When they were growing up I heard of affirmative action. I was concerned that my daughters would be denied entrance to college or a job because affirmative action.

Affirmative action actually is bad for blacks. Statistics show that many black students who should not have gone to Harvard, or other similar institutions of higher learning have flunked out. They were not prepared for what they encountered. They would probably have been more successful going to a community college or trade school.

We could all go colorblind relative to race tomorrow, but the damage created by centuries of color-coded abuses will still exist. Whites will be colorblind, then continue not hiring blacks because blacks do not have work experience. That lack of work experience would have been due to racism before everybody turned colorblind. But now that we are colorblind, we can ignore those years because we do not see color and only hire based on “merit.”
