78-year-old male:

I have low functioning thyroid which is causing LDL cholesterol to rise. I quit smoking in 1976, marijuana in 1974, and alcohol about twenty years ago. I take only a calcium channel blocker for blood pressure control. I am 5’5 140 pounds. I have been physically active since 1973. In the summer months I ride a bicycle fifty miles a day. In the winter I go to a gym seven days a week. I do upper body workouts on nautilus machines for one hour every day. I do treadmill work for two hours every day and then ride a stationary bike at home for two hours a day.

LDL cholesterol is just one tiny factor in the overall picture and studies have shown statins do more harm than good. In fact, outcomes reveal that a patient with cholesterol medications lives only three or four days longer than one who is not.

A young doctor at the local medical center told me to take Statins because that is what he is told to do. I declined and here is why:

They have chelation these days. It works. Saved my mom from open heart surgery.

A lot of young doctors don't know shit from shinola, and don't respect the opinions of their patients who live in their bodies 24/7. Disregarding their opinions, particularly if you are feeling great is what you have to do.

You had no physical activity before 1973 wow, no wonder yer so little.

Which doctors do you patronize that know nothing.

Doctors are not trained well in health and nutrition. They are trained to treat people after they are already sick. It's not the fault of the doctors, it's their training. They are allowed maybe fifteen minutes tops with a new patient. There is a huge turnover in organized medical facilities because the management does not allow doctors to practice preventive medicine. They are told to dole out powerful medications, some that harmful. They are instructed to march to the tune of the pharmaceutical industry. You have to take care of yourself and watch out for that.

I also don't take My statin pills.

I have learned that there is no science or studies that back the narrative that cholesterol and saturated fats cause heart disease.

It's good you did your research ... your doctor certainly won't ... Big Pharm tells him what to do ... your doctor will murder you rather than admit a mistake ...

I can't find any information about statins and thyroid problems ... however, you have neglected to state your test results ... what's your CAC score? ... EKG readings? ... what's your coronaries look like? ... have you tried statins and did they reduce your cholesterol? ... with all this exercise, maybe eat something other than lard, butter and fat ...

What does your kidney specialist say? ...

FAKE NEWS ... published on Twitter? ... HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW ... probably not a real medical doctor ... just a damn geologist with a Master's Degree ...

Read the article ... sounds like it came straight out of National Enquirer or People Magazine ... strictly scare tactics without science ... the suggestions read like mind-control conspiracies ... "avoid electric fields" ... HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW ...

Statins give me great cholesterol readings and my blood vessel plaques are dissolving making it easier to walk again ... but my problems are indeed heart related ... statins are the least problematic of the drugs I'm currently taking ... that doesn't mean I don't think statins are over-prescribed ... if that's your point, then I'd agree with you ... but your point is statins are bad for everyone and that simply isn't true ...

if you take statins you should take a good CQ10 supplement.....statins help lower the CQ10 in your body so you need to keep the levels up....

I am not telling you not to take Statins. If you take them that is your choice. I am saying why I do not take them. If taking Statins gives you comfort than by all means do what you think is right. My point is that lifestyle plays a much larger role in heart disease than many realize. I believe in most cases a person's diet and daily excercise play a much larger role in clogged ateries than LDL cholesterol. Family history plays a role as well.

I'm only criticizing your link ... see how I divided your post into two parts ... the first I support ... the second I don't ...

Are you saying "Statins do more harm than good" ... or are you saying "I am not telling you not to take Statins" ...

Doctors all say "diet, exercise and medications" ... even the evil ones ... that doesn't replace research, reading ourselves what these drugs do ... because doctors will poison us and not think twice about it ... dead people don't sue ...

I rather lose those three or four days of life than to live your lifestyle ... just saying ... 5 hours at the gym everyday? ... no thank you ... statins let me eat cheese ... end of story ...

I learned a long time ago, most doctors are dangerous. I do all I can to avoid them.

The neurologist/specialist I had was thorough so he was an anomoly.in Ontario, however, as was stated already, he cannot live in my body 24/7. I am trying to eat well, search far less for what my condition might be (this often.just confuses and generates worry), but I am unable to cut out stress due to my circumstances nor find meaning and purpose in life living in East Germany. It's a cruel country here.and I am.of the firm belief that a mans happiness and ability to find purpose contributes to their health. With Trumps focus on returning manufacturing, the bullies may end up being the bullied. They can't say I didn't try and help this province and nation. Indeed, most doctors input your symptoms, look at history, patterns, general correlations and output a diagnosis. They then turn to your "treatment" which involves prescriptions 95% of the time. Let's pray for MAHA to succeed, maybe revolutionize medicine and health approaches in the West.

I declined statins, as well. Too many bad side effects. Did red-yeast-rice for a bit, but not even that anymore.

Some can't tolerate statins. It can cause muscle tissue breakdown. Frequent blood tests are prescribed to keep an eye on this. I stopped taking them because of muscle weakness and general malaise even though my blood tests were ok. I also stopped taking BP meds as they were raising hell with my BP. I also had the "Lisinopril cough" that drove me nuts.
