There's a good and bad side to everything. Fossil fuels were cheap and available. , that is no longer the case plus they are destroying the ecosystem. A mixture of everything available is probably the best balance. This crunch is occurring because we put all our eggs in one basket. Let's not repeat the same mistakes.

The biggest threat to humanity is overpopulation. All other efforts are in vain if we can't control population growth.

It assumes that your so called newables do just what alleged fossil fuels can do. A lot more research must be done. A good way to cut down oil production is to move to nuclear. I think you will object to nuclear since you have not included them as needed to produce electric power.

Renewables have none of the risks of nuclear power, or any of the pollution and waste liabililities of coal.

And, unkilke either oil or gas, they are RENEWABLE, something nuclear, oil and coal never can be.

You want true energy independence???

Then stop depending on a finite supply of fossil fuels, often controlled by hostile poltical regiemes.

By the way...........how many of you knew you could turn coal into jet fuel, gasoline, and diesel? Yep, in fact, Germany did much of that during WWII. Last I heard to (and that was about 4 or 5 years ago) turn a reasonable profit, the equivalent to the price of oil would have to be in the lower 60 dollar per barrel range.

Now I ask you intelligent people..........besides the current LARGEST oil reserves in the world, the largest NATURAL GAS reserves in the world, what country do you think has the largest COAL reserves in the world? I'll give 3 guesses, and the 1st two do not count!
