The latest "controversy" concerns whether Trump IS or is NOT under Mueller's investigative web......Trump tweets that he is.....while his talking heads attorneys deny that he is since they have not been notified of such an investigation targeting Trump (mind you that whether Trump is or is not does not mean that his underlings are not under investigation.)

Now, we must acknowledge that neither the DOJ or Mueller as special counsel is legally required to inform their possible target of an investigation.

However, the WH could directly call the DOJ (not Sessions but Rosenstein or the 3rd person in charge) and directly ASK whether Trump is a target or not.....

The answer, of course, could be one of 3......Yes Trump is a target; No he is not;or We can't confirm or deny.

Such an answer would place the DOJ in an awkward position......but the more interesting factor in all this is the WHY the Trump team refuses to simply call the DOJ directly....

Why does it matter at this point in the investigation?

They can claim he is not under investigation and further information could bring him under investigation
They can claim he is under investigation and the investigation might find nothing

Why not just let Mueller do his thing and let the chips fall where they may

Oh maybe because Mueller, Comey, and Rod Rosenstein set this entire thing up to snare Trump?

Isn't having a personal friendship a violation of the conflict of interest law and therefore Mueller who does, should have to recuse himself or else he could face disbarment? Well that is, IF the LIMP GOP weren't also in cahoots trying to get Trump as well. And before you all say that's because no one likes him, get real. The main reason ALL politicians want him out is because he makes them look lazy, worthless, and just all around bad.
