Biden ‘asked for a debate break every 30 minutes and refused to have ears inspected for devices’
Fox News reported that the Biden team's request for two breaks during the 90-minute contest was denied during negotiations with President Trump's representatives.
President Donald Trump's team reportedly denied the request for breaks during the 90-minute contest
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany then took aim at the Biden camp on Twitter, stating: “There are no breaks when you’re leader of the free world, Joe!”
On Tuesday, rumors began to go viral that Biden planned to wear an electronic device in his ear during the first presidential debate.
In a call with reporters, Kate Bedingfield, Biden's deputy campaign manager, denied both the earpiece and break claims.
Bedingfield said: "His [Trump's] staff seems concerned that he may not do well tonight and they’re already laying the groundwork for how they’re going to lie about why."
"It is completely absurd. Of course, he’s not wearing an earpiece and we never asked for breaks."
EARPIECE CLAIMS
According to Fox News, Trump's re-election campaign had asked the Biden campaign to allow a third party to inspect the ears of each debater for electronic devices or transmitters – a request that was reportedly denied by the former vice president's representatives.
A source told Fox News news that Trump had consented to such a request, but the Biden campaign had reversed its cooperation on such a check.
Trump campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh said: "Joe Biden’s handlers several days ago agreed to a pre-debate inspection for electronic earpieces but today abruptly reversed themselves and declined. Biden’s handlers have asked for multiple breaks during the debate, which President Trump doesn’t need, so we have rejected that request.
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany took aim at the Biden break claims on Twitter.
"On top of the refusal to take a drug test, it seems pretty obvious that the Biden team is looking for any safety net they can find in the hours leading up to the debate. With his 47 years as a failed Washington politician, how much help does Biden want?"
The 90-minute debate, which will start at 9pm ET.
Oh, I forgot again!
It is being hosted by Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Clinic, in Cleveland, Ohio, and will be moderated by "Fox News Sunday" anchor Chris Wallace.
