Everyone knows by now that President Trump lies everyday about matters major and matters trivial. Some think he has a mental illness that causes him to lie. Others think his lies are well thought out and planned for his propaganda purposes. Either one, the guy can not be trusted or believed about anything. He has turned the Presidency into a entity to be mocked and made fun of. Amazingly, folks who complained about a President having a sexual affair in the White House because it showed a lack of character and respect for the office of the President seem perfectly alright about a guy lying everyday to the public and citizens about anything and everything. He even lies about things that are easy to prove almost immediately after he tells the lie. He lies about things people say, even when videos easily prove he is lying.

So, why does Trump lie so much? Good politics or mental illness?

Like many other people, I confronted this problem years ago regarding a person who repeatedly lied about all matters, both large and important and small and seemingly insignificant. At one point, another person who was struggling for an answer to the question at hand about why this person lied so frequently asked me why the person in question lied so much.

I responded this way: I said that while the explanation may be somewhat psychologically complicated to explain, it was also quite simple. Simply put, that person was a liar.

You see, everyone lies occasionally. It's a human trait. The most common reason for lying is to avoid punishment of some kind. So, a kid might lie about why his homework is not done, and his father might lie about why he's late for work. But lying occasionally doesn't make a person a "liar" by definition because lying is not central to his or her character.

Some people lie about specific things, usually for some kind of personal benefit or self-aggrandizement. That's known as pathological lying. These lies include lying on a resume or lying about how much money they make.

But a relatively small percentage of people lie about everything all the time. They lie about things both big and small, and they lie even when telling the truth would serve them better. They are known as compulsive liars. But referring to them simply as liars is fine as far as I'm concerned because it defines their personality and their M.O. regarding how they interact with everyone in the world, regardless of whether it's a friend or a total stranger, .

Here's the crux of the matter: Once you know a person IS a liar, you would be a fool to believe anything that person says to you about anything.

While I must admit that I'm surprised at this point in time that so many people have failed to catch on to the fact that Trump is a compulsive liar, I also believe that as time passes, it will become more and more obvious to almost everyone that Trump's words (as well as his word) means absolutely nothing to him. As this realization truly sinks in. his words will mean nothing to virtually everyone else, as well.

One more comment: I notice that when I see a picture of Trump in the news, his mouth is usually open in a circle (like a fish), and he's talking, and talking, and talking ad nauseam and interrupting anyone and everyone who tries to ask him a question. He's a man who's in love with the sound of his own voice. Additionally, he keeps repeating the same things over and over again as if he believes repetition will help to sell what he's saying. It doesn't. In fact, repetition is often a sign of lying when people are trying to drive a false narrative, and they think that the repetition of what they're saying is somehow more convincing than just saying it one time. It isn't. In fact, it's what's known in poker as "a tell." So, when you hear Trump repeating something over and over again, you should be willing to bet money that it's not true.

Regardless, there will come a point in time when the vast majority of Americans will see Trump for who and what he truly is because the evidence will simply be overwhelming. At that point, people will be sick and tired of being lied to in such an egregious manner because NO ONE likes to be disrespected by being lied to as if they're too gullible or too stupid to know the difference between what's true and what isn't. As they say, eventually the truth will out.

It WILL happen!

At that point, if there's any justice at all in the world, the Trump brand will be worthless.

Compulsive lying certainly fits trump.

It is just amazing how many Americans accept trump's lying.

Lying has always been good politics. And it isn't necessarily limited to Republicans and people named Donald Trump. You can't sit there and think only one party does it while the other is a paragon of virtue and honesty...

Can you?

Trump claimed he saw thousands of Muslims dancing in the streets of NJ on 9-11. It was a common myth among conservatives.
When informed that there is no record of that happening and no TV station covered it....Trump just doubled down on the lie....I saw it
Then he took an obscure article by Serge Kovaleski and claimed it affirmed what he had said. Kovaleski denied he had said anything like that and Trump called him a liar and mocked him for being crippled
"There were enough calls that it was disturbing," he said. "That's the only word I can use."

* Three additional officers who remain on the Jersey City force said they witnessed small groups of Muslim celebrants on Sept. 11, but they would not speak for attribution, citing a department policy that prohibits media interviews.

The officers, including a high-ranking official, said their reluctance to speak publicly also stemmed from concern they would run afoul of Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, who has repeatedly said celebrations did not take place.

"I saw it with my own eyes," the ranking officer said. "In the end, police officers are professionals, so we just observed that stuff and sucked it up."

Eleven other officers claimed to have been witnesses to celebrations in postings on Facebook after Trump resurrected the issue, but they either declined to speak for attribution or did not return calls seeking comment

EXCLUSIVE: Some Jersey City Muslims did celebrate 9/11, cop and residents say
All these second hand stories and “I know a guy”
If police saw it...where are their reports

If Muslims were celebrating....why wasn’t the irate public recording it?
I should be able to go on You Tube and find hundreds of links
Local media would have picked up on it......it would have been a big story

Trump lies because it works for him.

There's a sucker born every minute, and Trump is their P.T. Barnum.
Thing is....he lies about things that are easily verified

While he is a prolific liar....he is not very good at it
He does not care. He has his own specific audience and those are the only ones he is interested in. Today it is about the 30%-40% of the population who make up the cult or lack the character to care.

A good liar tells lies that can’t be proven as false. A good liar gets away with it

Trumps lies are easily disproved.....but he just doubles down on the lie and his minions back it up
So your argument is obozo is a better liar? Who cares? A lie is a lie, and they’re both liars
No...my argument is that the Great Obama didn’t lie

Rump repeats his lies many times and his tribe of idiots fall in line
And yet you voted for Hillary, right?
Meat all of trumps lies and BS will live after him Hillary would have been 5x the president he is
Trump's legacy as a very consequential president is as ensured as Hillary's legacy as a liar and a loser.

Thsi is not something you can argue with.
What exactly is his legacy right now?

Latest Trump lie is a hoot. He tweeted that the NY Times made up a White House spokesperson that talked about the mess over talks with N. Korea. The Times would not give up the spokespersons name so Trump called it an example of fake news.

Oops, the spokesperson told the story to 50 reporters in the press room and 200 more on a conference call. Didn't want his name used per agreement between WH and media.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for blues—and there was no one left to speak for him

Why does trump still lie about not supporting the war in Iraq before it began. He is on record saying he "guessed he was in favor" of the war before the war began. He is recorded saying that during an interview on radio. A proven lie.
"guesed he was in favor"..yeah that's some strong support.....

I still support the war...Hussein was a horrible person that had rape and torture rooms (real torture not waterboarding), but if you guys are fine with that...…..just say you are.
