By now it must be common news that taking a speed boat off the tip of South America is a deadly mission. Yet they continue to try. What could drive people to that point where they're going out on an adventure that has a better than even chance of ending up in death? Extreme poverty perhaps?

If these were just fishermen I think they would probably find another place to go fishing. No there has to be more to it for a group of people like this who are willing to stare death in the face and sometimes come out on the losing end.

1) Thick skulls?"

2) Natural born dummies?"

3) They have a death wish?"

It suggests to me that there must be an astronomical profit margin to make it worth it. That and the possibility that more is getting through than are getting intercepted.

Just think .... even in the USA there is no shortage of stupid people.
You don't have to look far to find them.

.

If they were fishermen, they would have fishing equipment, which none of them have had, and they would have a lot fewer high-powered motors.

Get on this boat or we will kill you right now usually works.

So, what’s your explanation then?
The boats being destroyed fit a criteria with minimal loss or risk to the US. They are all in open water, all passengers are fully accounted for, and there is no risk of collateral damage. That the cartels are moving back to boats at all is a testament to Trump's land border security.

It is very likely a boat would get a pass if even one unknown person were on board. Nor will they strike in another country's territorial waters, or make strikes on land targets. This is all just the beginning if we are serious about decimating supply.
