Just occasionally and never when I expect it. So I was not looking for one that is metal tube that looks completely sterile industrial medical with stabilizers....but....one with character and style. No cut glass or ostentatious crap....but maybe some ornamental brass in the handle. Dunno. Something that can be passed off as just an accessory instead of a necessity.
Boots usually help most of the time....but dress shoes are problematic.

Knees have come a LOOOOONG way....now multiple sizes adjusted for your specific size, better components for long lasting use between replacements and easier to replace wear surfaces in the artificial joint. (Minor surgery).
Ankles? Nada. Everything is experimental and with high failure rates. And they remove your foot when it fails. ( 50% of the time)
I got some time yet....my knee still works well enough before I get it replaced. Ankle is going to be a lost cause eventually....but while I can I'm just doing what I can. Including baking for family and friends. Wiring up whatever.

67, worked since i has a paper route in the 60's, over 4 decades in construction, and i built my farm which is some sort of retirement delusion.......~S~

So when he gets there they send him to another conex.....who then sends him off to third one.
When the foreman comes by I tell him that I sent the apprentice off for some quarter-20 nuts and ain't see him for an hour.

One thing is correct, I don't worry about snow removal so much now.
I didn't bother with cleaning the driveways till 0800 this morning from the Sunday night - Monday night snows. There was no place I needed to be so why bother?
The poor slob across the street shoveled his twice.....Oh well, he's young, it's good for him.

I got a 4 team parlay starting with tOSU, Ravens, Bills, and finally Eagles.
ALL on the money line.
No worrying about the spread, but doesn't pay nearly as well.

I live in Virginia, and commuted for 40 years, 30 as an electrical O@M manager, and the commute got worse every year and was actually worse than the actual job but you do what you need to do. I worked out of local 26 and went to work when I was 25 for a water authority when I was 25, the wife made me stick to it and we struggled through the wages but mad it through, and she made it possible to retire at 55. She worked for the county and retired there too. I was bored with fishing ( gas was $.99 gallon then and found every rock pile in the Potomac), and went to work at Quantico Cemetery for exercise and to control my weight. Then went to work at parks and rec to be outside. I think if you retire you think of yourself as some kind of survivor, and it's not something you should apologize for, but not something to gloat about. I think that's irritating to people, but retirees are just people, some are assholes and some aren't.
