Reminds me of when I worked in retail. In the fourth quarter you'd hire a bunch of temporary cashiers who knew their jobs would end as soon as the holidays were over. So, it's like steal as much as you can before you get laid off. Of course you'd try to hire the most honest people you could but we're not talking about the cream of society in the first place and some would always slip through the cracks.

I had one cashier who rang up a bunch of people all night long and then just disappeared about one hour before closing. She just vanished, nowhere to be found. It was so busy we had to just leave her registered closed until the store closed and then counted her till, which was missing several hundred dollars, surprise, surprise. She probably had some Christmas shopping to do before other stores closed.
