Hunter's lawyers and the DOJ prosecutors colluded to put together a plea deal that would have Hunter plead guilty to two lesser charges that carried no jail time...get diversion for the gun felony...and then have immunity to any crimes he committed up to that point and they tried to hide that immunity in the diversion part of the plea deal and slip it past the judge. She saw what they were doing and called the prosecution on it and they panicked. The judge asked if Hunter was presently being investigated for other crimes and the prosecutor reluctantly answered yes at which point the judge asked incredulously why a plea deal would include immunity for crimes that were currently being investigated and if the prosecutors had ever seen something like that done before. The prosecutor sheepishly admitted that he had not and that was the end of that sweet heart plea deal. As soon as that blanket immunity was taken away, Hunter's lawyers refused the deal and he pled not guilty.

What this debacle shows quite clearly is that the Biden DOJ is completely corrupt and that a Special Counsel should have been named to investigate this two YEARS ago!

When she did the prosecution was placed between a rock and a hard place. They'd refused to turn over materials to Congressional investigators because of an "ongoing investigation" so how could they now say that there wasn't an investigation? Once they reluctantly stated there was an ongoing investigation the Judge asked why they were giving a blanket immunity to crimes that they were in the process of investigating and if they had EVER heard of a prosecutor doing something like that before. Once again the prosecutor had to sheepishly admit that he had never heard of that being done.
