Why crime rates are going up? Criminal on probation gets caught in crimes, gets more probation...that's why.

There will always be people who will dodge taxes on drugs and prostitution........

I don't really care about drugs so people caught using should be sent to rehab. Prostitution is another problem......Andrew Klavan, an author I like, talked about prostitution...he said even in legal brothels you have pimps trafficking women against their will.......so you have that problem too....

Sometimes regulations are good, particularly in the case of a thing like prostitution. I find it hard to believe the situation wouldn't improve overall if it was legalized, taxed and regulated.
It doesn't work. You end up with legal prostitution and illegal prostitution as well. If this is what the goal is, good luck.

The conservative solution seems to be to go back to B.C times when we would just string people up in public places and cut hands and penises off, gouge eyes out, shit like that. Do you want to just kill them/keep them as slaves or do we focus on trying to rehabilitate as many as we can?
Your ridiculous sense of ridiculousness makes you ridiculous, but don't expect us to take your words seriously.

The legal prostitution mitigates the illegal prostitution. There would be an improvement and we'd make a lot of money.

For all of its many wrongs, China deals with drug use very well. It is a medical issue. No lawyer, no court, no prison. A blood test is all. Test positive and it's two years of work rehab in one of the mega factories. An addict can serve two such sentences then they are chronic users. They never get out of the program.

If that's the way you think it would work.

That's exactly how it would work, and you could even pour the boatloads of tax revenue into paying off the national debt, though we all know our government wouldn't be that responsible.

There won't be boatloads of revenue. Everyone thinks legal prostitution would make a fortune. Nope. It's not like whores are going to get accountants and start paying taxes. Street sluts are not going to get health department certificates and require condoms. Pimps will still make the big bucks selling exotics.

Parts of Nevada have legal brothels. All the legal brothels have not taken a single hooker off the strip. If it was successful wouldn't there be more?

It seems pretty popular in European countries that have legalized it.

And they still have illegal prostitution. It's just something that can't be fully legalized. The single mother that does enough to make the rent, the secretary that found an expensive cat suit that she cannot live without will make a few pickups at the corner bar. These do not lend themselves to legalized prostitution. Then. too most pimps sell a truly illegal product that cannot be legalized.

And this is why we have increasing crime in our cities, in particular cities under total democrat party control....

The way you stop crime is by keeping criminals locked up in jail......you don't stop crime by taking guns away from the victims of these criminals.

An accused serial burglar and thief has been sentenced to probation for a burglary in Lincoln Park last year — even though he was already on probation for two burglaries at the time of the alleged break-in.

Jonathan Hernandez, 26, pleaded guilty to one count of theft in exchange for an 18-month probation sentence in the latest case, according to court records. He has been arrested seventeen times in Chicago since March 2014, according to CPD records.

Many so-called liberals believe in "Care first, jail last."

Los Angeles's newly elected district [prosecuting] attorney believes in that philosophy. He was formerly the D.A. in San Francisco. Some of his subordinates are livid with anger at his new policies that he brought from there.

If a liberal's loved one were ever the victim of a vicious criminal, s/he would realize what a mistake it is to be soft on robbers, sucker punchers, looters, rapists, & murderers.

Some of those Biden voters, sadly, will come to regret their vote when his Attorney General follows bleeding-heart policies.

Would people want to work to steal if they could apply for unemployment compensation for simply being unemployed in our at-will employment States? Free market Capitalism not Big Government nanny-Statism!

They would collect unemployment compensation AND steal. Many thieves have full time jobs and steal.

Wow.....that was a stupid fucking post....

Did you read this article? The guy was on probation when he committed did two more burglaries....and then he was given probation for that one too.....

What part of this dynamic increasing the crime rate is too hard for your tiny brain to understand?

And it isn't just burglars getting released, you dumbass...the democrat party prosecutors and judges are releasing violent gun criminals over and over too...

You idiot.
Why don't you show us some proof that rates are rising. Then maybe we can move forward. According to the fbi they are not on the rise so premise is false to start with.that being said not sure how your story happens.

I did....in a separate thread.....here is the story....

According to data analyst Jeff Asher, 51 major U.S. cities saw their murder rates increase this year by an average of 35.7% through September compared to 2019.

"Big cities tend to overstate national trends in crime, but the national change in murder in 2020 will be historically awful," he wrote on Twitter.
-----
Some cities have seen an even more extreme increase. Take Louisville, for example, which saw 78 homicides in 2019. By Nov. 1 of this year, 139 had been murdered — a 78% increase. Madison, Wisconsin, the state's capital, saw a 400% increase in homicides. In a relatively peaceful city with a population of just under 260,000, such a dramatic change means 10 people were murdered this year. In other, larger cities, significant upticks in homicides can lead to hundreds more lives lost.

In Chicago, which has seen a nearly 55% increase in murders, 728 were killed — nearly all of which through gun violence. In 2019, when the city thought it was beginning to slow the rate of murders, 470 had been killed.

For some city residents, like those who live in Los Angeles, the increase in murders hearkens back to a time when many transplants had not even moved there yet. There, murders are happening at a rate not seen in a decade, with over 300 slain this year so far.

Talk of returning to the "bad old days," a reference to the 1970s and 1980s, when current tourist attractions such as Times Square were too dangerous to walk through past sundown, has become a fixture in New York politics as the city faces a nearly 40% increase in murders, with over 430 killed this year alone. Shootings have risen 95%, at 1,412 incidents vs. 721 in 2019. Not since 2006 has New York since seen gun-related violence this high, nor is there any evidence the trajectory will drop off, with shootings up 112% in November of this year compared to one year ago.

Why would they do that? According to the right wing, the Poor would rather be lazy and do drugs. You can't have it both ways.

Having a lot more people in poverty and unemployed may do that. Just because welfare benefits are subject to limits doesn't mean capitalism's natural rate of unemployment and the poverty generated by it has limits. We need market friendly public policies that actually solve for economic phenomena not just political phenomena.
