Here's my take on golf as a sport:

I don't like any sport in which one player or team is not really affected by the opponents. Technically, if a golf player worke up with a stomach virus, his opponent could shoot his eighteen holes today, and the sick player be allowed to shoot a makeup round within say three days. In the end, they would compare scores, just like a typical golf game.

Same apply to performance sports, such as gymnastics and diving, or many track and field events.
