of its 3,000 acres, 175 were secured on september 11, 2001, to receive the remains of the world trade center. Those acres became a new york police department crime scene while the other fields were left to return to a natural state.
The operation at fresh kills had three objectives: To find human remains, personal effects, and any evidence of the terrorist attack such as a highjackerÂ’s box cutter, cell phones from the planes, and the black boxes. The recovery operation evolved from simple hand-sorting into an elaborate machine-sifting and sorting process. All the material was carefully sorted to find objects down to one-quarter of an inch in size.
The recovery operation at the fresh kills facility was under the management of federal bureau of investigation special agent richard marx, new york police department inspector james luongo, and new york police department lieutenant bruce bovino.

the fresh kills
landfill on staten island
was designated a crime
scene and trucks began
arriving from ground zero
with steel and
crushed
debris that was
once
the world trade center.
Over the next ten months,
an operation to recover
human remains, personal
effects and the objects
of everyday life from 1.8
million tons of material was
undertaken by the new
york police department,
an fbi evidence recovery
team, twenty-five state
and federal agencies, and
fourteen private contractors.
The story of this operation
unfolds in many rare images
and compelling objects that
are now preserved for history.
Thousands of detectives,
agents, and forensic evidence
specialists worked around
the clock to recover rem-
nants of the lives lost
at the world trade center.
Over 1.7 million hours were
spent working at the landfill.
The exhibition photographs,
taken over several months,
document the immense

but remember, there was no investigation.......![]()
no there was not a proper investigation.. shifting through debris for trinkets is hardly relevant are you trying to imply they would of found visible evidence of explosives they where not even looking for ???...is that the irrational thought you trying to imply???
Face it, Id, you would reject any investigation findings that did not jell with your CT.
