Who will lose out when ACA health insurance subsidies expire?

Exactly! My argument as well. The democrats wrote the law that subsidies expire.
Then they want to blame Republicans when the subsidies expire. Funny how they never seem to mention that they did it in the first place.

So those who are no longer entitled to an extra discount or who never were entitled to the scheme are losing their bonus????

It's what the US voted for you dill!!

Greg
It is what Democrats voted for - "We have to pass it to see what is in it"

DEMOCRATS VOTE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN IN 2010

How? Why wouldn't the hospital eat that cost?

Most of the costs for EMTALA are costed to the Hospital and Doctors.

But then the rest of us with insurance pay higher rates to cover the unrecoverable costs associated with the uninsured using the Emergency Room as primary care.

I'm not seeing the financial link between "unrecoverable hospital costs for illegals" and my insurance company or Medicaid?
Or are you saying that hospitals would just raise prices for care for everyone to cover those costs?

"Some 22 million Americans are set to lose health insurance subsidies by the end of the year. Who are they, and what will happen if the subsidies are allowed to expire?

These subsidies, known as enhanced premium tax credits, lower costs for people who buy their health insurance through Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplaces (sometimes called Obamacare). They are at the heart of a weeks-long standoff that has shuttered the federal government since Oct. 1. About 80 percent of the people who benefit from them live in states that Donald Trump won in the 2024 presidential election. Many have no idea that their health insurance costs are on track to go up.

Who benefits from the tax credit?

Almost everyone who got their health insurance through an ACA marketplace in 2025 received the enhanced premium tax credit, so describing the people who have ACA plans is a good way to get a sense of the people who get the credit."

Trump/Republican voters lose, as usual.

The stupidity of voting for Trump and Republicans.

The stupidity of voting against one’s own interests.
Xiden and the dems set the expiration date of the big insurance bailouts

Nobody else

We'll just go back to the bad old days ... the poor will use the Emergency Room for their primary care, so they still get free health care ... that's what you voted for, that's what you're going to get ...

All to rescind the 3.8% tax on incomes over $2,500,000 ... sounds like the Middle Class want to be taxes out of existence ...

You realize these subs only came about around 2021, right?

And the amount of people going to the ER for basic care has no declined, in fact, it’s worsen since Obamacare passage

The hospitals have to roll the unrecoverable costs into billing for those that pay (meaning insurance companies and other medical programs (such as MediCare, MediAid, TRICARE, State programs, etc.)

The hospitals can't "eat the costs" so are added back in as part of their pricing/billing structure and that cost is spread out amongst the rest of the patientg population - or the hospital goes under and closes it's doors. Basic business.

You might of missed it but a bipartisan bill was passed making those cuts permanent.

I thought the OBBB was passed by 51/50 in the Senate with Vance having to cast a tie breaking vote with all DEMs and a couple of GOP'ers voting against.

Good point, the dems voted ti raise taxes. You are right

We all realize, do we not, that this whole discussion is based on the fact that the promises on which ACA was sold to the American people were lies? Some Democrat needs to own up to it...Maybe Barry Soetoro? He was the Liar in Chief.

Parenthetically, my son would be one of those most "harmed" if the subsidies die.

If they are that important, perhaps your cult shouldn't have voted to cut them off.

No, this is on you and your beloved fuhrer.

Hope you like your new and "improved" premium.

A bipartisan bill making the ACA tax credits permanent sounds great!
Sure but that’s not what the Dems are fighting for right now

They have shut the govt down over subs to big insurance off setting their cost

Giving tax credits to consumers makes more sense

It was always stupid to, instead of actually finding ways to decrease health care costs, to let them rise and then let the national debt of 38 trillion dollars subsidize the rising health care costs.

Benchmark ACA marketplace premiums have been flat for seven years. Future federal health care liabilities (across Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, and ACA subsidies) have dropped by tens of trillions of dollars over the last decade and a half.

The abuse of the medical health system is massive. In the ghettos the residents use the local fire departments and/or medical transportation systems as taxi services. We do not get the costs of this for some reason.
