I bet all those Japanese-American CITIZENS he interned during WW II don't think so.
At the same time he was doing that, the British were violently putting down revolts in their colonies, the Germans were slaughtering millions of people, Stalin was killing people left and right, the Japanese were carving swathes of death through China.
Was it bad? Yup. But give it a little perspective. We locked up 110,000 people because of public opinion, most of them were released within a year.
By comparison, the British held German POW's for YEARS after the war ended, because they were used to having them around to do schlub work.
You've destroyed yourself son by thinking the government should do for you what you're too damn lazy to do for yourself. FDR created that mindset and freeloaders like you ran with it.
YOu know, you might have a point here.
You are right, I want government to do things I can't do for myself.
I really can't keep all the roads I have to travel in good repair. I kind of expect government to do that.
I can't inspect every bit of food I eat to make sure that it's safe to eat, and I can't personally purify the water that I drink. I kind of expect government to do that, too.
The problem with "Libertarians" is that you guys want all the benefits of living in a civilized society without having to make any of the sacrifices to do so- paying taxes, obeying sensible laws, and so on.
That kind of makes you the "Freeloaders", doesn't it?
Because I would happily have a discussion about how we can do food stamps or section 8 better so that people aren't abusing it. Except I think the people who are abusing it are WalMart and McDonalds paying people starvation wages and then telling their employees to apply for these things.
