Lincoln was the gold standard for US Presidents.

Lincoln did what he could at a difficult time. However, he destroyed states rights and sent the US on a path to tyranny. Not anywhere near the best.

I disagree.

Lincoln had to govern in war. Not just any war. A civil war. He had to make decisions that would win the war and keep America together.

It wasn't easy.

Was he perfect? Hell no but the decisions he made saved America and that's why I think he was the gold standard for Presidents.

He held the country together at a cost of 620,000 lives. It's difficult to judge who was the best president because the faced different circumstances.

HEre's the ugly truth about WWII. OTHER people did most of the heavy lifting. Americans just benefited. Most of the real fighting was done by Russians, Chinese and Indians fighting for the British Empire on the promise they'd finally get their country back.
