Who doesn’t want a slave?

Probably not any time soon, but I can envision a day when major highways such as interstates will require all cars to be self driving. No worries, both you and I will probably be long dead before that happens.

My great great grandfather said "I'm not going to buy one of those automobiles. I like riding my horse." LOL.

No one "LIKES" to drive 3.5 hours up north to go hunting. EVERYONE would prefer to put the car in auto drive and turn all four seats so that all four in the car are sitting like you would at a table. Shuffle up and deal the cars!

Or go to sleep for 3.5 hours. Play on the internet. Watch a movie. Talk on the phone.

No westwall. You do not like to drive. You're being a stubborn old man resistant to change.

Wrong, skippy. I LOVE to drive. Always have. Just like I loved flying. It's a way to see the world.

I like looking at the world.

OMG! You're being so stubborn and resistant. Don't you realize if you don't have to drive then you will take in MORE scenery?

How relaxing it will be to be traveling 55 mph, never too close to another car, slower but steady and safe. Much safer than us driving too. So your "I don't trust a robot" is bs. It's safer than you statistically. And you get into airplanes right? Or do you prefer to drive from NY to Cali? LOL.

They can give the left lane to guys like you who want to drive. You can pass me.

I drive up Detroit to Boyne City. 250 miles. Takes me 3.5 hours. It will take my self driving car 4.5 hours. I don't care. I took a nap, watched a movie, jacked off. Played cards with my Irobot. Pet my dog. Eat. Anything other than manually have to drive.

You're crazy.

I spend as much time driving as I like. I stop whenever I wish to see something closeup. I rarely take interstate freeways, I am far happier on the slow roads.

You just don't get it.

This is all in fun. But I do truly believe you are just digging in and you just don't realize how much better it would be. Or you refuse to see/admit it. It's like when we first started wearing shoes. I bet your ancestors fought it. Insisted that no shoes was better. LOL.

And maybe you like driving around slowly but what if you have to go 250 miles? Or from Michigan to Florida? Do you think I like driving all that way? My god how amazing of a trip it would be if I didn't have to drive. 4 to 5 hours, stop, fill up, walk the dog, and then get in the car and drive another 4 to 5 hours? Repeat?? Fuck that. And I'm driving 80 mph. My self driving car only drives 55. It says 20 hours to get there from my house. So 17 hours if you go 80 mph. It would take 25 hours in a self driving car. I would gladly go in a self driving car and not have to drive the car myself. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar.

A truck driver is lying if they say they'd rather drive the truck themselves from MI to Florida. No way. If the truck could just drive itself? I know it scares them because then they don't even need the driver, but that's the future bro.

Not everyone is lazy, like you. Unlike you I have no desire for a slave. I do things, because I like doing things.

I know that's hard for a lazy person like you to understand, but it's true.

If they teach your car how to self drive do you worry it's going to try to kill you?
Consider, since you are not controlling the car, whoever controls the AI that IS controlling the car also controls the car. Also consider that LE will insist on backdoor access to control your car if they want you to stop, and that leaves your car open to hacking and thus to control by someone not yourself. There would need to be a manual override, but how fast can a snoozing drive react if his car starts swerving into the other lane at high speeds?

Trucks will always need a human driver ready to take over in extreme circumstances, just like airliners. The modern airliner can basically fly itself from point to point, taking off and landing itself, but you're never going to see them without pilots.

I LIKE to hunt my own deer. But I don't like lugging the deer through the woods trying to get it back to the buck pole. So I won't send my android out to hunt but I will have it drag the deer back for me. I don't LIKE doing that. So you don't have to have your robot wipe your ass. You can do your own vacuuming if you want.

I don't like walking back to my hunting stand. It's too far. So I take an ebike. In the future you can ask your robot to put on the segway wheels because it's going to give you a ride back to the stand.

I think it's great you can do your own plumbing too. But in the future your robot can do that work for you. And what if you aren't good at plumbing? You have to call an expensive plumber when your robot can do it?

I hate cleaning my couch. A maid every 2 weeks is what $80? I think this robot will pay for itself even if it costs $30K. $100K.

Like I said, you're lazy. I'm 80 and I still ride my old Specialized mountain bike. You will turn in to a fat slob.

I won't.

And you must spend an awful lot of time on that couch of yours.

See how that works?

Good for you sir. But my dad is 80 and I don't think he should be driving anymore. That's ANOTHER great thing about self driving cars. You and I can drive but people in their 80's or 90's NEVER know when to call it quits. Because of pride and losing independence. Self driving cars will let people get around till they drop dead.

OMG, I just thought of ANOTHER great idea. Instead of $500 to call 911 ambulance, you can get in your self driving car and say GO TO EMERGENCY ROOM. It will put sirens on to alert everyone that there is an emergency.

Here's another great thing about this. How many kids do you have? Let's say you have 2. You hit the button and all four chairs turn so you are all facing each other like a kitchen table. The middle counsel is the table. While on your vacation you can bond and hang out and play games/cards, talk to each other. Not be the grumpy dad driving and the kids are bored. Or maybe you turn your chair and take a nap. Face the window. You get my point. I promise you, the future will have this and it'll be better.

Yes I am lazy. I'll be the first to buy one. Robot and self driving car.

What if insurance for self driving cars is $1000 a year less? You gonna insist on manual? Funny, no one who preferred stick shift pays extra to have it installed. They thought they liked it better because it was cheaper.

What about the 1000 things you/I can't do for myself. If this robot eliminates the need for hiring plumbers, painters, a babysitter, dog sitter, shave my back because I don't have a wife, manscape me. Go get my phone out of the car because I forgot it. Hell, go to Kroger for me at 8:30pm because I forgot something. My cousin who lives in NY says he pays over $20 to have uber eats deliver some cookies.

I'm telling you this robot in the future, people won't be able to do without. Like Iphones now.

See, that's where you are wrong. I no longer fly as Pilot in Command, I still fly, but I always have another pilot with me now. I'm not Bob Hoover. Smart people know when to stop. I will continue to drive for as long as I can do it safely. I chose to stop flying as PIC because of a near mid air I had while coming in to land at Minden Airport. We were never in true danger because when I finally spotted the interloper who had violated the traffic circuit, I was able to maneuver away with no difficulty. But, a year ago I wouldn't have had to do that maneuver because i would have seen him much sooner.

My driving will be the same. When I get to a point where I can no longer do so safely I will stop. I have already stopped my vintage car racing. My reflexes are slowed down enough that if I get in to a difficult situation I'm not positive I will be able to deal with it. So, I have stopped.

Like I said, smart people know when to stop.

I don't do my roof work any longer. I still do all of the plumbing, painting and other maintenance around the house and my shop and hangar.

But, you can sit on your couch and not learn how to do things.

My dad isn't that smart. Although, he does let me drive him to my brothers and back now. And he no longer drives at night. I think he got into some accidents where he ripped off his mirror or parked in front of this pole, then forgot about it and tried to drive off, smashing his bumper. He's lucky the air bag didn't go off.

Or my grandmother. She got in a HORRIBLE accident. And I remember driving with her once. 25 mph in a 50. OMG I was like GRAMMA! What the hell??? She didn't give a shit. LOL

You seem like a great guy who I should listen to. LOL. Yes I'm lazy! I want a slave, maid, assistant, nail clipper, butt whipper, nose trimmer, shave me. Go stir my spaghetti. Bring me over a strand let me taste. And it'll talk to me 10 x better than Alexas.

I'm just sad I won't be around to see it. and I think about what would my grandmother say if she saw all the shit we see today.

I get sad about what my nephews are going to see that I won't.

One thing I'm hoping to see is the Lion's win a Superbowl. What do you want to see before it's all over?

My daughter make her first million from her own company.

My brother finally caught a salmon swimming up a river nearby where his hunting property is. I sooo want to learn how to go stock up on a freezer full of fish every year. I have a little coleman troll boat where we can go where most people can't, but I need a bigger troll motor on Lake Charleovix

Beautiful! We need to go to the U.P. Michigan. It’s as close as you can get to Alaska. We have the tents. We talk about it. But we need to actually schedule it. Easier said than done. It could be just me, my bro and my dog but I want the nephews to come too. They’re in college so busy.
