They used a fully automatic M16 knockoff. It is expensive to get these through the black market. You can't buy them at a gun store. The Smith & Wesson M & P (military and Police) is about a $9,000 weapon, and illegal for civilians to own. So the laws that the Communists tout in their war on civil rights did absolutely nothing to keep Farook from getting a police weapon.

There is NO legislation that can prevent people from getting their hands on weapons. Weapons are readily available on the black market, sold out of the trunks of cars, and purchased through gangs..... GEEZ ... think for a second before throwing the solution to the members of Congress.

Look on Facebook. There are many people selling them on Facebook. There's probably a thousand for sell on Facebook right now. Anyone that wants a gun, can get a gun. I could buy a dozen tomorrow if I want them. The guy I bought mine from last year, met me about two hours after we ended our phone call. I met him in the parking lot of Sam's Club and we made the deal. It's very easy to buy a gun. Anyone can buy one. Plenty of people have them for sell. Check out the gun pages on Facebook.

The rifles Farook and his wife had were legally purchased, semi-auto AR-15s - neither of them made by Colt. They had tried to modify one of the rifles to make it automatic, but they didn't succeed at it, and they modified the other to get around California's weird magazine laws.

Interestingly enough, I actually do own one of the guns Farook and his wife used - a "California-compliant" DPMS AR-15.
