In spite of Congress pushing Øbama to provide lethal aid he did not.

Back in 2014, after Russian strongman Vladimir Putin had annexed Crimea and, in essence, launched the war in Ukraine that he has now mobilized forces to finish, Rich wrote an excellent column on Putin’s ambitions. On July 17 that year, the terrorist “separatist” forces Putin had dispatched into Donbas (which stoked the sedition that evolved into the pretext for last night’s full-on Russian invasion) shot a Malaysia Airlines civilian aircraft out of the sky, killing all 298 people aboard. As Rich observed at the time:

The downing of Flight 17 is of a piece with Putin’s lawless aggression. Having already absorbed Crimea, he seeks to further dismember a European country for the offense of seeking to govern itself in keeping with its values and interests.

In the piece, Rich went on to highlight President Obama’s dithering — issuing vapid warnings that Putin laughed off and refusing to provide the Ukrainian military with arms to defend themselves. Eli Lake added more details: Among the defensive assets our government has denied Ukraine is “radar jamming and detection equipment necessary to evade and counter [Russian] anti-aircraft systems” — like the system Putin’s unlawful combatants had used to shoot down Flight 17.

But Obama would not arm the Ukrainians. It was not until Donald Trump became president that they were provided with serious defensive weaponry, though it would obviously never be enough if Putin decided to mass Russia’s far superior forces and invade — which he waited to do until Obama’s vice-president, Joe Biden, was in the Oval Office.

...

That marries up well with the democrats' obsession with gun control here in America: it's the guns not the people who are to blame for all gun deaths. I gotta say, leaving the Ukrainians defenseless was a foolish act IMHO. Whoever agreed to that on the Ukraine side musta got paid off big time, or else they were very, very stupid. Who in their right mind did not know for the past 30 years that Putin wanted to restore the old USSR bloc as much as he could.?

Yea, but Hunter got that back on the Burisma deal.

Jeez, did they forget to run that article past an editor before publishing it? I only read what you copy/pasted, but I had to re-read parts of that 2-3 times due to the syntax and grammar errors.

The Ukraine situation has been happening since Putin took over at the end of 1999. So, you can blame Obama, and Trump and Bush and Biden for it.

It's not a Democrat thing, it's a US thing.

Trump was forced to sell the weapons after using them to extort the Ukranian government. Then he spent the rest of his Presidency applauding Russia and threatening NATO. From what I've seen most of the GOP base supports Russia over Ukraine.

Russia's been trying to conquer Ukraine for like 600 years.

Just totally talking out your ass

when did Putin invade Ukraine in 1999?

Xiden cut off defense aid to Ukraine as well, undoing Trump's policy of sending arms....https://www.politico.com/news/2021/06/18/white-house-ukraine-military-lethal-weapons-495169

I suppose that was a reachback to the "more flexible" with Putin policies of Obama

Not true.
The Rus were always in the north, and were mostly of Viking descent.
The Ukrainians in Kyiv were originally Scythians from the Balkans, mixed with Polish who invaded in the 1700s, the Mongols who invaded around 1200, and the Tartars who invaded around 1500.
The Cossacks were escaped Polish rebels.
The Ukrainians were never large or powerful, being caught between so many larger forces.

What do you want to say?

Trump was pushing the NATO countries to live up to their treaty commitments. The wisdom of that was now been clearly shown. If Trump hadn’t pushed, NATO wouldn’t have the weapons to provide the Ukranians.

The Ukraine committed numerous and continual acts of war, like stealing billions worth of Russian oil from pipelines, violating treaties, murdering ethnic Russians, trying to put NATO nukes on Russia's border, etc.
If the Ukraine was not committing crimes, it would not needed or wanted NATO weapons.
The Ukraine should never have been given any NATO weapons.
Biden deliberately started this war by illegally giving Kyiv weapons.

Your claims are proven outright lies..

they violated NO treaty whatsoever.

They never tried to put nukes on russias border and neither did anyone else.

They stole no oil and the state murdered no one.

Now that we know you made those claims up out of THIN AIR it proves the rest of your claims false.

It was legal to give them weapons PERIOD
